Dream School Chances???

I would like to start off by saying that I absolutely despise these threads because I feel that they're stemmed from our own inadequacies but my stress level has gone through the roof. At this point I'll end up in a SUNY school if I don't get into either CUSE or UCONN. Cuse has been my dream school since I was seven and I would be crushed if I didn't get in. I scheduled my interview over the summer and it went absolutely amazing, my interviewer himself told me he was very impressed with my personality. I've also kept in touch with him ever since. I begged my parents to do ED but they refused, so I was forced to do RD. I sent my application in the second week it came out which was a month before the ED deadline.

Essays were outstanding, not only were they very personable but they showed a great deal of knowledge about the school and my passion to attend it.

My Recs were outstanding; I was checked in the top one percent in every category. The letters attached were not just generic and said a lot about my character and potential.

I filled out the SU App not the Common App. I also visited the campus and that was a question on the app, don't know if that helps but I sure hope so..

So do I stand any chance at Cuse??

I think you should get in, don't see any reason why not really.

syracuse is a very good school, but not tough to get into (unfortunately) which in many people's opinions makes it less of a "good school". ur in without a doubt. i honestly think syracuse should increase their grade requirements because i know some real idiots that go there

I hope you guys are right..

Syracuse is your dream school? Interesting.....

When I wrote my post dealing with "Overview of my visit to Syracuse, " which is found at the top of this forum in the featured forum area, I interviewed a number of Syracuse students. NOT ONE had Syracuse as their dream school... In fact, no one that I met had Syracuse as their first choice! They usually liked the school and liked their program, they just didn't have Syracuse as their first choice.

However, to answer your question, it depends on the school at Syracuse that you are applying for. If you want to go to the School of Communications, your SATs are too low, in my opinion. For most of the other schools, such as Arts and Science, you should be fine.

Taxguy-Did you interview students in the Newhouse School during your visit? I would be very surprised if NONE of them had Syracuse as their first choice, since Syracuse is definitely one of the top 10 schools for broadcasting/communications in the country.

I applied to Whitman as my first choice, arts and sciences as my second, and the Ischool as my third. I've actually read your post taxguy, but I just fell in love with Syracuse from the moment that I saw it. To me it's the best of both worlds: outstanding academics and filled with school spirit. While of course it has its negatives, what school doesn't?? In my heart I also truly believe that with a Syracuse degree, I'm going to come out of school with a bunch of great jobs offers. The mandated internships, the orange value fund and the team rooms in the Whitman school are among a few things that make Cuse incomparable to other schools, that's just my opinion though.

Researchmaven asks,"Did you interview students in the Newhouse School during your visit? "

Response: Obviously I didn't interview all students. In fact, I didn't even interview close to an appropriate random sample as to be necessarily indicative of the whole student population. I did, however, meet two Newhouse students who noted that Syracuse was not their first choice. One wanted Columbia and the other preferred Northwestern. The one who wanted Columbia was given so much in aid from Syracuse that she chose Syracuse over Columbia. She stated that she was happy at Syracuse. The other student didnt' get into Northwestern.

Taxguy for Accounting (my major) u stated it doesnt really matter what school i go to as long as its accredited. im a freshman at baruch right now (soon to be leaving bc i hate commuting and dont like the school even a little), full scholarship and all. ive applied and got accepted into 2 schools so far, waiting on 8 more. But i feel that these 2 are my most likely destinations. SUNY Buffalo and Syracuse. Which one will look better for law school and jobs overall? I feel that I should choose Buffalo's School of Management over Syracuse Whitman due to the high cost of Syracuse (even though my parents can afford it) Do you think my choice for Suny Buffalo over Syracuse makes sense or is it really much worse than Syracuse's business school? Thanks for the help

Law school is VERY numbers oriented for admission. They use the undergrad GPA and LSAT. If you are doing well at Baruch, I would defintely stay there if you plan on going to law school. Don't transfer! Baruch has unbelievable job connections particularly in accounting and has strong connections for law school too.

As for SUNY Buffalo vs. Syracuse, frankly, if I were getting a free ride to a place like Baruch , I would defintely stay there. However, if you won't take my advice then either one will be about equal far as law school is concerned. I would take the cheaper alternative.

I think you have a good chance he only thing I see that might worry me is the lower sat scores but I still think u will get in. Chance me please! I need more insight
