Driving test tips

Left turn - left lane. It doesn't matter that there is only one road turning left. Turn to the left lane. Then the tester, if necessary, will say, "when safe, make a right lane change."

Alright..

Another Scenario:

I take a left onto the two lane road and and get onto the left lane. THe inspector then tells me that we need to take a left after a few miles...Do I continue on my left lane or do I move to the right lane so as to not block traffic and then move back to the left lane when I need to take the turn??

Scenario 2:

I'm at a 4 way junction ( with lights ). I am in the left lane to turn left. My light is green and so is the light for the oncoming traffic. There is an oncoming car that wants to turn left too. Do I wait for him to complete his turn to the left and then I continue to the left or can we both turn to our corresponding lefts at the same time safely?

if you're a female, flirt with the instructor if he's a guy.

lol! I'm male so thats out! :(

80% of the people that work for the dmv or dps are idiots, that barely graduated from high school, so try as hard as u can not to notice. i hate those people so much, with their stupid documents and long lines. who do they think they are. dumb people in power is the flaw of democracy. it's worse than when evil people are in power.

my advice is drive as slow as possible they can't fail u for it and it will give u time to concentrate and not mess up like: complete stop at stop sign and count out 3 seconds then go, also left-right-left at every intersection, even when going through a green light.

ok 1st scenario: no matter what, follow instructions.. stay in the left lane unless he says change lanes. you wont be blocking traffic.... typically, the left lane should be used for faster moving traffic.

2nd scenario: you guys both turn to the left of each other.

Cool... So essentially, I musn't do thing on my accord, eh?

Problem is that a friend of mine was failed for not moving to the right lane in Scenario 1. Apparently, he kept driving for 4-5 miles on the left lane and then after getting back to the dmv, the inspector told him he had failed...lol... they're so ruthless...

Always remember to cross as few lanes of traffic as possible (when turning).

You can turn at the same time.

I'm also in CT, and one thing I remember getting a point off for was not signaling when backing into a parking space (that was kind of weird). So make sure you do that. Also, my cousin lost major points for not looking back (physically turning his head) when backing into a space. Hobofromdowntown is right in telling you to exaggerate your motions.

how do you quote another users message? anyways yah when i took my driving test i would overemphasize physical motions. when we would go down a residential neighborhood, i would like bend my head forward and to the side when crossing intersections...

Cool.. Where in CT did you take your test? I'm taking mine at Wethersfield

A) Signaling when backing in???? I thought my blinkers needed to be on whenever I reverse. What would you signal when you back in?

B) Are we expected to know hand signals? If so, what are they? They arent mentioned in the manual..

Vikingmar, point noted.. thanks :)

I took mine in Danbury.

I think you just need to signal which way you're backing in? I'm honestly not completely sure on this.

I don't think you need to know hand signals.

my first time i did the same with rolling stop cause i was nervous...i failed

second time the guy said i did the k-turn "backwards" but he was cool and passed me anyway

use blinkers ( correctly) constantly...can never be too safe

ill run you through mine

A. they take your stuff...yada yada

B. they stay outside and have you do left signal, right signal, and break.

C. start driving...use a signal pulling into the lane.

D. tells you to go in front of the cones (signal) and parallel park....there was plenty of room and you can adjust as much as needed..used signals.

E. signal out and drive straight to a cone. he says stop. you do. he makes you reverse till he stops. pretty easy, stay straight. then you continue on.

F. he told me go right. there was a stop sign STOP. signal. turn

G. another turn. do your k-turn with signals (review the procedure)

H. come out of the turn. and drive back to where you started...signaling and stopping where necessary. for me he yelled about the k-turn at this point, but then smiled told me to review k-turn and gave me the signature that i passed

your should be similar

A) How could you do a K-turn "backwards"???

B) Whats the proper signalling in the Kturn? Left signal then bliinkers because your backing up and then left signal again?

lol dont speed

Crash and kill every pedestrian you see! Drive safely.

One of the things that they did here was check your car. Make sure all of your lights are working, horn, windowshield dosent have a crack and your seatbelts work.

I started the driving threads lol

im joking

someone before said to drive really slow so they can't fail you - I've had two friends who failed because they went too slow. Just go the speed limit. Focus on driving only, not on the fact that there's a person judging you. Have your parent or whoever is driving you to the test non-discreetly drive through the area so you can check out any crazy things. Ask people who've tested in that area if there were any really tricky spots. Check blind spots no matter what - be overly cautious. Stop before the white lines!

How could you be nervous about a driving exam. Driving a car is the easiest thing to learn-either brake, turn the wheel, or accelerate when appropriate. Jesus Christ you people are hilarious.

jai u failed didnt u?

Use your blinker A LOT because they said I didn't use it enough and took a lot of points off. Like when pulling away from the curb after parking is one time I remember in particular.

Dont Speed!!

Dont make a left turn at red light. Automatic fail.
