Dropping a class 2nd sem senior year

This second semester of senior year, I was originally supposed to be enrolled in 7 AP classes, and that is what I put on my UC application. However, I realized it was a bit too much for me to handle, so I am considering dropping my AP Environmental Science class. I will still be enrolled in 6 AP classes and have satisfied the a-g requriement for UC Berkeley, but will dropping AP Envi Sci have any serious impact on the admissions evaluation for UC Berkeley?

Thanks

Eh. I don’t think this is an issue. Do you have the grades and test scores to get in? Did you take AP classes as a junior or even as a sophomore? Do you consider yourself a strong candidate? Going from 7 AP classes to 6 I don’t think is a big deal at all.

couldn’t hurt to ask your GC what they think

Note, too, that you are required to notify the UCs of any changes to your schedule from what you listed when you submitted your app.

@stepay My grades and test scares are quite solid, and I don’t see them being an issue. Yes, I’ve taken around 15 AP classes so far.

@mikemac My counselor doesn’t seem to think it would be an issue.

Any other advice?

@darktoform31 - Sure sounds like you’re ok to me. Just let Berkeley know what you’ve done. if you don’t get admitted, that’s not the reason why.

That’s what I figured, should be no big deal. Be sure to update your apps using the instructions at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/after-you-apply/

Thanks for the advice guys!

One more thing, should I wait to contact them until after I get my admissions decision, or tell them now?

Tell them now.
