Dropping a class...

Does Cornell care if you drop a class and it appears as withdrawal/pass on your transcript? I'm considering dropping AP Psychology, even though it is pretty late, but it is killing my weighted and unweighted GPA (B most likely for final grade) not to mention I don't enjoy the class, but I've sat through it for so long. Would I have to justify it for college admissions? I mean that is what everyone keeps telling me. That you need justify dropping a class if they find out about it.

I'd stick with it unless you're getting Cs or something because it's so late.

It would be a different story if you were looking to drop in the beginning of the year. (I dropped AP Calc, AP Physics, and Pre-Calc honors at the beginning of this year and switched them for AP Bio, regular physics and regular pre-calc.)

How much of a difference is there between a 3.86383 and a 3.90 unweighted, calculated on a base scale with A+ to A- as 4 and so on? Would they really care that much about that difference?

And, I'm not getting any Cs, just flat Bs no matter what I do. I can understand about my other Bs. AP English Lang. Comp. I'm getting a B in because that's all I want. Honors Math Analysis, I'm trying my hardest in and I can't manage an A. But AP Psychology, no way no how, I get As on tests and quizzes and boom there is my B still after all of htat.

I think it would depend entirely on the program you applied to -- the english department would likely be more forgiving than the College of Engineering. I never personally bothered with that ****; my GPA is like a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale 'cos I did terribly during my freshman year. I sincerely believe that my essays - not my grades - got me into Cornell (along with every other school I applied to.) It's more important for you to fit the program you apply to than it is for you to have perfect grades (although perfect grades can't hurt, either.)

Bs are perfectly respectable in AP courses; you're learning college-level material. I've gotten Bs in AP Bio every quarter so far.

Alright, then I will stick with it, then. I want to go to the College of Engineering, but from the other posts I've gathered, anything at or above a 3.75 is good for Cornell. I mean last year's average for entering high school class was a 3.67 from the databases I checked.

Oh, and thanks for the help. I really didn't pick up on your sarcasm in the other thread, so apologize for bashing you there.
