I got admitted to UCD, UCI, and UCSD. For my academic progression I put that I would be completing Spanish 2 in the Spring semester, which would complete my IGETC, so I checked that box on my application. Due to many personal circumstances I am not doing well in this class and would like to drop it. I already completed the 90 quarters needed to transfer in Winter of 2021, and the specific class my admission contract stated I must complete with a C, I already have. All major prereq is finished and the seven course pattern is finished. I am only taking this class for the IGETC certification.
Good idea to drop? If I continue taking it I risk falling below the minimum gpa for the Spring semester that is on my admissions contract. Anybody have this experience before?
Do the conditions of admission specify completion of IGETC (including indirectly, such as completion of all in-progress and planned courses listed on the application)? If so, contact the campuses that have that stipulation to find out if dropping the course would be ok.
Better to find out now rather than surprise the college you matriculate to with a final transcript that differs from what you said you had in-progress and planned.
“completion of all in-progress and planned courses listed on the application”
It says this only, thats why Im worried. But I do know everybody’s condition of acceptance has thus. I emailed UCD admissions advisor and all I got back was a link to the page saying to report any changes, barely any info
If the answer by email is unsatisfactory, try calling on the phone and asking for a direct answer as to whether dropping the course is ok.
