Dropping AP Physics, effect on admissions?

Hi there! I’m a senior currently enrolled in AP Physics C, but I’m very seriously considering dropping it, as it’s already really stressful. For context, I am taking four other APs this year (Lit, Studio Art, Psych, & Calc AB) plus Honors French, and I’m essentially one of three or four students in my school taking that many APs. In addition, I already have 4 yrs of science (bio, chem, physics, ap bio) and want to be an English major, so this isnt necessarily a super necessary class.

i essentially took this class because the teacher is an a-maz-ing and i DO find physics super interesting, but now I’m not sure it’s anything but extra stress. i’m just worried that this won’t be enough to be competitive in college apps. i’m planning on applying to brown ed w/ a 4.5 GPA and 32/34 on the ACT, which is great but not necessarily amazing. i’ve taken 3 AP’s (bio, lang, apush) which is the max i was allowed. i’m already counting on my ec’s to pull me through, and i want to make sure i get my foot in the door. i’d switch into creative writing or ceramics instead of physics, which is more in line w my interests, but i’m just afraid of what ao’s will think.

Drop it.

Take a class that is more interesting for you.

This will not keep you out of any plce you are otherwise admissible for.

My own DS could have written your post. He opted out of physics at the last second so that he could take an elective and I fully supported it. He has four other APs this year and also isn’t planning a STEM major. No reason to add that kind of stress to your life unnecessarily.
