Dropping out mid-semester

Hi guys, I have been having serious problems with school. First, my mom stole the money I took out in loans for the spring semester and used it without my consent. As a result I was unable to pay my tuition and she refuses to give me the money back. We had recently moved and I ended up losing my scholarship. I lost both my jobs and the commute from New Jersey to New York is expensive, cost me $200 a month and I can now longer afford it. I have been searching for jobs and applying as much as I can but I haven’t had much luck. My only choice right now is to drop my classes and take some time off. I don’t want to so I was wondering if anyone could help with a solution. Thank you.

Go speak with your academic advisor and the bursar. If you could not pay the tuition for spring, how are you still a student? Did they not withdraw you for non payment? It is still early. Take the W’s and save your GPA. When you do enroll again, you can explain your situation and what happened. You may need to find a less expensive option and without the commute until you get things settled.

Second, your mother committed a crime against you. File a police report and try to press charges against her. She stole money from you that you have to pay back and you didn’t get to use it for what you borrowed it for. I am sorry that she put you in this situation, but I doubt it is the first time she’s pulled something and left a lot of hurt behind and a mess for someone else to deal with.
