Drugs, Sex and You at Boarding Schools

Why CAN'T you report her?
What's stopping you?

What school do you go to?

Alyria: you need to report your roommate to an adult at your school ASAP. As others on this post have pointed out, your OWN boarding school career is at risk. An advisor, a dorm counselor, or another adult you trust.

Dear god, I would definently report her. I'm shocked you have had the nerve to live with that and you probably have realized that turning somebody in isn't wrong.

That is the stuff that the thread is for.

wow, wow, wow...

Inspiring post by D'yer above. I think often that people don't want to be the one to pull the plug on someone, and it makes it difficult to act. Remember that even though it takes courage to speak up for what is right, it is so much the better choice than remaining silent. In some colleges, as well as boarding schools, there are alcohol policies which will get you in trouble, even if you are just in the presence of alcohol, so why risk anything by being around alcohol or drugs.

Also for Alyria above, if you can't do it, have your parents drop a word to those in charge. You are, after all, presumably a minor, and the school has some responsibility for your safety.

Good luck to all.

Alryia: Just request a room change.

Jeez-louise Alryia! I've been in and out of CC lately and I missed this post of Oct. 23rd:

++
I wish I could get my roommate kicked out. She deals coke, acid, pot, and vicodin to the entire school and I'm really uncomfortable being her roommate. Just goes to show that drugs are definitely VERY VERY prevalent in boarding schools."

Now hoping you're still there and that you desire to remain there, you must get adult / advisor / parent assistance in dissolving this roomate situation. Changing rooms is not going to cut it. You don't have to out your roomate in front of the whole school. You MUST approach someone as previously mentioned before it is too late. Please re-read D'yer Maker' post of the same day. Hope I'm just late in reading this and that you now have a double for a single! Please let us know the status.

Articles about an incident involving Andover students but this could happen at any school - public or private:

While the event is disturbing, I am impressed with Andover's response. This was not hidden under the rug. There was a statement to parents on the Parent Portal of the web site when it happened, it was discussed with all of the students at a school meeting, and it was also discussed at Parents' weekend.

And, since Andover has its newspaper on-line, everyone can get the students' perspective as well.

I agree, Brooklyn Guy. It's good it wasn't swept under the rug - nor could it be since it involved the police off campus. It is not the problem but how it is handled that tells you about how the school in run.

All schools have issues with this - we're talking teens here. The last link above I found very insightful as it gives anonymous opinions from students.
