I love Oberlin, it is by far my top choice school (I visited on Thursday for the first time). I have decided that I'm not going to drink or do drugs ever... I have a REALLY bad family history of both, so it's not really worth it... would this life decision isolate me on a "liberal" campus like Oberlin's?

From everything I've heard, absolutely not. I think one of the great things about Oberlin kids is that they're mature enough to respect a decision like yours, as long as you don't look down on or judge those who do decide to drink and do drugs. You should expect to be around substances and those who partake in them, but as long as you stick to your decision, you should do just fine.

No, no, no, no, no - you'll be fine. I've never had alcohol or done drugs, and I don't plan to, ever, and I'm absolutely fine. No one cares what you do, there's absolutely no pressure. The social scene does NOT revolve around alcohol and drugs. I've never even had to be around substances, actually, and I still have plenty of friends.
