I agree to a point, but then I think - no one would have heard of the Seewald family had it not been for the Duggars. A little bit of biting the hand that publicizes you.
I don’t know who the Seewalds are (other than this). Do they want to be in the public eye or are they kinda just there by default?
A good statement by him, even if I don’t agree with everything he said. It’s nice to see someone close to the family calling out the BS.
This couple sure likes to be in the limelight. Would even consider their own tv show. It’s all about the money. I am sure someone would watch the show.

Jessa practically grew up as a reality TV star, so it’s not surprising that it’s her comfort zone. Ben latched himself onto the Duggars when the connection guaranteed fame and fortune. I’m sure they are both completely at sea with the notion that they’ll have to live in normal obscurity and support themselves with real work.
Jessa’s Instagram tonight posts a 3 minute video entitled, “The Passions That Prevent Adultery” by a Pastor. I’m surprised she’s opening her social media up to criticism.

I’m amazed at how many people know what God wants and doesn’t want. I don’t – I have no idea what God wants.
I’m also amazed at how many people commit terrible acts under the alleged auspices of God.
And, I’m also amazed at the gullible people who believe people like this. I understand that the victim was underage and naive and the perpetrator was in a position of authority, but still. We should raise our children to be more suspicious.

"I can’t remember who said it, but it’s a quote like “It’s amazing how often God’s views align with the person who is telling us God’s views.” The irony of that is that most of the holy books I have read have as one of their fundamental statements that only God knows the mind of God, and claiming to know it is thus wrong, yet for x thousands of years plenty claim to know what that is, what the truth is. It is why I always liked the idea that the questions about God and the nature of things are worth a lot more than the answers (it is telling that to the ‘whole truth’ kind of faith, questions are considered dangerous and to be discouraged)
And that’s one of my objections to “professional Christian” families like the Duggars - they are so convinced of their interpretation of the mind of G-d, including automatic forgiveness anytime they say they prayed and G-d forgave them. It seems beyond presumptuous and very self-serving to me.

Hmmm… Due to vacation, I haven’t been able to keep up with all the details of this treatment facility, but initially I saw reports that it is located in Rockport, IL. Now they say Rockford. Big difference. FWIW… Rockford is only about an hour’s drive from me, and I have a good friend who is a Protestant pastor there - I wonder if she has any scoop.
Maybe that plane trip was a red herring, and that’s why it didn’t stay on the ground very long.
Well, there’s also a really fun water park (Magic Waters) in a Rockford suburb that we used to take our daughters to at least once every summer. Maybe he was hanging out there, thinking he could rebaptize himself in the magic waters and be cured.
Oops… I didn’t realize I hadn’t finished my thought in post 1529. I was going to say that’s what the Duggars remind me of, but I guess everyone got my point anyway 
And yes, absolutely @musicprnt. I didn’t get much out of my religious school but the idea that only God knows for sure what (s)he wants was preached in my classroom while the opposite was preached in my church (the preacher knew God’s mind!)
