@Googlest End of March. Last year it was March 26 in the evening
Should you submit FAFSA before getting accepted or wait till you get accepted (seems like FAFSA submit deadline is before decision date)?
It seems FAFSA can only list 10 colleges. How do you submit for more than 10?

Is anyone not doing the optional essay about diversity? I’m not sure if I should do it because it’s due tomorrow and I don’t really have a story about diversity since I’m a white middle-class female.
@clairecm98 I didn’t do it either. Their website says it’s “truly optional” and I know people who didn’t write it and got in, so you should be fine! Better not to write anything than BS it, I think.
I have a unique diversity situation I could’ve written about, but even I didn’t submit the optional essay.
Does the optional essay have to be about diversity (e.g sexuality, gender, race?) I want to write about debate club (a community that really means alot to me) but I’m unsure of whether or not it is personal enough.
Ok I feel better now. Also @gearsstudio I recognize you from the Dartmouth ED thread lol. Hopefully we’ll get in here!
@clairecm98 i didn’t do it either as an asian female. i know several people who have gotten in and they didn’t do the diversity essay either. good luck to all of us!
@movielover101 “holistic” is a term coined in a supreme court decision written by sandra day o’connor to allow affirmative action. It also is important to justify recruited athletes at Duke/Stanford that are several standard deviations below the average accepted applicants. Holistic is also cynically used by admissions to encourage more applications than are really competitive to increase US news and world report rankings. Unhooked kids (not URM, not recruited athlete, not homeless, not foster kid etc…) applying to Ivies for instance basically never (<0.1%) get in without 99%tile test scores. How hard would it be for schools to post a test number , below which 99% of non-URM/recruited athletes applicants never get accepted?
On the Duke portal, it says my General Application is incomplete despite me submitting it on time. everything else is complete (except for the midyear report, bc obviously), is anybody else seeing the same thing??
If you have submitted all items, within the past few days, it make take some time for the information to be processed. It should take within a week. If you do not have all information complete after a week, contact the admissions office or your counsellor.
@hsalem32 mine says the same thing and I applied RD back in Novmember. I emailed admissions and they said everyone who applied RD has to send in a mid year grade report. So, you are up to date except for the mid year grade report. They said to have the high school send it as soon as it is complete.
@terminatorp @dukeblue2019 hi guys, Duke is my absolute dream school (i literally have dreams about attending and get butterflies just thinking that i could be a blue devil). How have you liked your experience at duke, what is your major, how big was the shift from high school to duke in terms of classes aannnd last but not least have you been to any mens basketball games and how awesome are they?! lol sorry for the overload of questions but as i said, i am very in love with the school and it seems these types of questions can only be answered by current students
I have my interview today, any tips for anyone whose already taken it or done it in the past? thanks!
Here is how you could submit FAFSA to more than 10 colleges.
https://fafsa.ed.gov/help/fotwfaq14.htm
Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can list up to ten colleges. Once you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR), you can make the information available to more than ten colleges through one of the following options. Each option will allow the college to receive an electronic copy of your SAR, and you will also receive an updated SAR:
- Click Login on the home page and log in to FAFSA on the Web. You will be given the option to Make FAFSA Corrections. Remove some of the colleges listed on your FAFSA, add the additional school codes, and submit the corrections for processing.
- Give the additional colleges your Social Security Number, name, and the Data Release Number (DRN) from your SAR so that they can add their school code to your FAFSA and receive an electronic copy of your SAR.
- Call the Federal Student Aid Information Center and have them add the colleges for you. When you call, you must provide the DRN from your SAR or confirmation page. Refer to the Help page for contact information.
- If you have a paper SAR, you can replace the colleges listed on the SAR with other colleges, and mail the SAR back to Federal Student Aid. Note that the paper SAR only allows you to change up to four colleges.
Note: If there are ten colleges on your FAFSA, any new school codes that you add will replace one or more of the school codes already listed.
Thank you.
Is the interview optional??? If i don’t want an interview and wish to turn it down, how should I tell the alumni that emailed me?
I think that it would look really bad if you turned down an interview @hsalem32 Although it is optional and doesn’t hold that much weight, turning down an interview would make it seem like you’re really uninterested.
^ I totally agree. Turning down an invitation signals disinterest in a school.
