Thank you, @oneandonlyonyx. Hoping some more go out tonight.
I got invited to Duke BSAI also!
You are the third person that I had mentioned above, @novakaaai_ . Congrats! Did you also receive your email at 10 p. last Friday?
Anything?
@Ceciliaagnes Thank you!! But ever since Johns Hopkins University accidentally sent out acceptance letters to people who were rejected last year, I have been more wary. I got my email at 10:00PM.
Thank you! I am scared, too. It will hurt even more considering we will be on campus when admission decisions are released.
I received it at 10 pm, too. @Ceciliaagnes
@novakaaai_ Yeah I can’t imagine receiving a rejection letter while staying on campus. That would be awful. Which is probably why they said they said it is rare to be invited and end up not being accepted.
You guys are in; try to relax. If it’s your number one, you should be done seating this stuff. I can relate, though. I was chosen for UPENN’S PEEP fly-in program in October, and although we were told by numerous people, including the students who hosted us who also did PEEP, that it means we will get into PENN, I am still very leery until decision day. Which is why I applied to so many other schools…just in case.
So…is it safe to call this an “unofficial acceptance”? Because I’m trying to apply for local scholarships and they ask what schools I applied to, and what schools I was accepted into. I want to mention Duke, but I don’t know exactly what to call it…
Sorry, I hope that all made sense.
You can say you have received a letter from Duke indicating that you are likely to be admitted.
for anyone wondering if they are still sending invites out: I just got mine today! So don’t fret
@aimsop Do you remember when you applied? I’m curious if they’re releasing them based on when you applied
@ChilliLL I sent in my application on the day of the deadline, which was January 3rd I believe
@ChilliLL I sent my application around December 25, and I got the letter last week…So it would make sense if they released them according to when you apply.
Congratulations, @aimsop! What time did you receive your email? Not that it means anything, but can any of you who got the invite share your stats? Maybe I’m too far below par to make it…
I sent my app January 3rd too. I have a 4.0 GPA, and my highest composite ACT was a 30 (highest subscores, 33 la, 30 science, 30 reading, 29 math) & highest composite new SAT is 1340 (highest subscores, 700 reading, 660 math).
Thanks for sharing, @novakaaai_ . I guess I should just relax, as I have a great offer from UNC-Chapel Hill to fall back on, and probably UPENN…But I sooooooo want Duke!
@Ceciliaagnes It came in at 2:30 pm exactly. And honestly I already know you’re have the stats for it considering you got invited to PEEP, so don’t worry But I think Duke is still sending invites out as more spots open up (that’s what it said in the email). But as for stats, my highest composite ACT score was a 34 (36 la, 32 sci, 36 reading, 31 math), and I have a 4.42 weighted gpa. Scores really aren’t everything! I also specifically talked about my experiences being African American in my essays, so idk if that played a role as well!
Yeah, one of my essays was about my grandmother, who picked cotton as a child in the 30’s in Georgia, and moved to New York for a better life and how her stories have inspired me. But I’m only half black…I don’t know if that counts.
How are spots opening up, BTW? From people that are declining their invites? I wouldn’t think there would be many.
