<p>Mine’s actually at the school and lasts a few days (the interview itself is on the day before we leave). I’m glad because it gives me a chance to actually visit a college.</p>
<p>Hey Philo, from what I know, Duke’s LGBT community is actually very tight knit and supportive. One of my best friends is a lesbian and she always talks about how incredible the lesbian community in Durham is. Don’t let outdated stereotypes of the South cloud your judgement. Durham is a very progressive community and Duke is a very progressive campus.</p>
<p>I think I just learned something about how threads work.</p>
<p>Duke wasn’t so progressive as late as 2006, but it seems to be pretty cool right now. Thanks to people like Janie Long.</p>

<p>You will hear lots of conflicting ideas about LGBT life at Duke. However, I can personally say that I have experienced nothing but love and support from my friends and peers around the university. The support I received was so strong that I was fully able to come out to my family and friends back home. I feel totally safe talking to friends in public about my sexuality, people I’m interested in, etc. Some people will disagree, but I haven’t come into contact with any bigots on campus. Hope this helps.</p>

<p>Duke recently sent an email asking for additional financial information, particularly Family Household Budget. Does this mean that I had missed a deadline? I don’t recall being asked for this during the regular financial aid process.</p>
