***Duke Class of 2021 Discussion Thread***

For the why duke essay, did you focus on one aspect, or talk about a lot of things?

@banananana11 a lot. Hard essay tho cause of the word limit

@crbine to my understanding Duke is one of the few schools that don’t consider legacy

@crbine on second thought I take it back, I was thinking of another school! Probably a slight edge

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Is it true that decisions may be released on the 8th for ED applicants?

where did you hear this?

Another person on the other Duke 2021 thread said it cause it happened last year apparently

I think it will probably be between the 8th and 15th cause the 8th seems a little early and the 15th seems pretty late

Ya last year’s date was the 10th

Although apparently Cornell comes out on the 8th this year (I have a friend applying) so idk we’ll see

Last year they told applicants they would receive word “by the 15th”, but then they released the decisions the Thursday before. So the 8th would make sense (also less waiting time so hopefully)

When you realize that you’re probably the trashiest applicant on here

Idk if we’re still doing this but:
Gender: Female
Race: Indian
Stats: SAT (2310 - 800W, 760CR, 750M), ACT (34), Math II (760), Bio-M (790), Chem (740), barely top 10%
State: TX
Why Duke: it’s such an incomparable school, not because of the programs they have, but the extent to which they execute their programs. Besides the academics and the typical elite school accolades, every person I talked to from Duke expresses their love for the degree of collaboration they experienced there. That and I have yet to talk to a grad who didn’t love their time there.
Major: English and Neuroscience (EARLY DECISION)
Writing: some of the best stuff I’ve written in a while

My interview went for nearly two hours, no idea what sort of significance that would have. Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone. I’m applying ED.

My interview lasted a little over an hour. Went well I thought.
