***Duke Class of 2021 Discussion Thread***

@TheTennisNinja if it’s 14 through junior year I think we’re all screwed

I mean I know a few kids who have taken 14+ through junior year. Idk how they do it.

Lol I’ll have taken 13 by graduation too. I think it all comes down to what your school offers and the nature of its curriculum, etc. 17 more days!!! Good luck to everyone! >:)

I go to a charter school that doesn’t offer APs at all.
I’m nervous for the 15th, but mostly because I’m afraid to go to Duke because of the Type A environment and the competitiveness. I feel like I made the wrong decision applying ED… then again, I tend to doubt myself.

If we don’t have all our financial aid information in just yet, will that impact admission decisions?

Highly doubt it, that’s a different department from the actual admissions. Also I don’t think the raw number of AP classes you’ve taken will play a large role in the decision – you can take 20 AP classes, doesn’t mean you did well in all of them.

does anyone know if duke has released the number of ED applicants?

@vincenty99 not sure about that. all I know is 2 people (including me) applied ED from my school. may the odds be ever in our favor.

I know three others from my school (not including me) applying ED, which is more than it’s ever been as far as I know

people applying to trinity and pratt are evaluated separately right

i think so

But they still have the same quota to meet, even if they’re considered separately, the total number of students is a static number. So I guess in a way, we’re still competing with one another.

@evanescent0129 I can add to this anecdotal evidence - from my D’s school at least 4 people are applying ED this year. The average has been 1.25.
But I expect the ED applicant pool to change in the (-1% to +11%) range. Have not read anything official yet.

thankfully my school is not competitive at all, and I am the only one who applied ED to duke. these decisions cannot come sooner!

My school is very competitive and we have at least 6 people applying ED… but my school is close to Duke so that is probably why

Like 4 others applying ED from my school, most years I don’t think there’s any

omg can’t wait!!!

there has been one person in the past 5 years at my school who applied ED and he/she got in with stats lower than mine so we’ll see…

Apparently they don’t look at the number from your school. I am one of 2 in a 3A NC school

I’m so nervous. Every single day I wake up and mentally calculate how many days are left.
It’s ridiculous, really, since I know I will be happy at any of the schools I will apply to if I am rejected. Does anybody else have this problem?
