Accepted off waitlist today into Trinity
I’m refreshing my email as frequently as possible. Nothing from Duke yet, but at least I found a Cinco De Mayo coupon from Moes Southwest Grill floating around in there

Just an interesting observation, but on the Duke 2021 applicant thread, you (@jakobk) said that you were rejected (and not waitlisted) from Pratt when decisions initially came out…I’m confused. Now I’m questioning the validity of you getting off the waitlist if you said you were rejected on March 29th…

@lonewolf3 I considered a waitlist as good as a rejection, didn’t really expect to get off. I don’t really care what you think, lol. But here’s my email from the Dean of Admissions, Christoph Guttentag if you want proof:

Thank you so much for your quick response to *** *********’s email about our waiting list. I very much appreciate it, and am pleased to share some very good news with you.
Later today I will begin the process of formally offering you admission to Duke’s Class of 2021. By this evening you should be able to log on to your application portal and see the letter of admission. The “Respond to offer” tab on the portal will provide instructions on how to respond to our offer. While we require a response to our offer of admission within a week, I hope you will be able to respond sooner; that will allow us to better understand how many more students we might be able to admit.
A packet of information will also be sent to you later this week, which will contain all of the information you need to prepare for your enrollment at Duke this fall.
I appreciate your interest, and look forward to welcoming you to Duke in August!

Do they release waitlist decisions in waves? Will they still be accepting people?
@girlfromnj99 My guess, as one who got off the waitlist but is admittedly still woefully misinformed of the process of Duke’s waitlist, is that Duke either had a list of students who they knew they wanted to take off the waitlist when they made the regular decision OR they reconvened before May 1st and identified students to whom to make offers right on May 1st. Based on who and who does not accept their initial wave, they’ll make more offers.
However, this is all pure conjecture based on my experiences.
