Duke Class of 2022 Discussion Thread

It has to be 20% admission rate. They fill 45-49% of the class with early decision applicants.

okay good just checking. I heard the admit rate for ED was 25% but I may be wrong.

@fengjiang123 @okimstressing My son got in last year ED, and he definitely also got the letter first that said not to check his admissions decision at school. It totally doesn’t mean you were rejected! I promise.

I feel like 20% is too low though because it was 25% last year… could they have gotten that many more applicants that the acceptance rate would drop a whole 5%?

Holy moly 20% is a huge drop. I hope it just means that more applied and not that their cutting down on class size.

Duke should be publishing an article about the ED class tomorrow or Thursday.

Last year it actually went up (from 24 to 25). Now it went down. Oh god… I hope you’re wrong.

is this for pratt or trinity

Can anyone verify this?

Has anyone personally seen an email or some sort of communication from Duke that says this is true???

Did the financial aid ToDo’s on the portal always say “Please check back during the last week of February to see if your IDOC checklist items have been updated.” ?? I don’t have great memory about every detail on this page but I don’t know why it would say to check in February if you’re rejected? (Although this could just be a generic statement that’s always been there)

Also for the record if this is some new thing please don’t take it too seriously I’m sure it’s nothing and we will all see the final decision Thursday! I was just curious.

@segovia yeah that’s been there since the requested documents were first put up on the list

Yeah I know for sure. My guidance counselor showed me the e-mail. They got 1,000 more applicants than last year so it was only 20% :frowning:

@soph2018 Ok thanks!

@luvinit was that total or just for trinity?

1000 more applicants is a 28% increase in the amount of early applications… in comparison northwesterns increased 6% this year and yales increased 13%… this sounds highly unlikely

and even penn only went up 9.5%…

no offense but having only one person report this is a little skep

thats like a huge increase, i doubt ed would go up that much, regular maybe, but not ed

jeez I hope that’s not true. also it’s not like duke won a basketball championship last year or anything so there’s no reason for the number of applicants to go up almost 30%…

so if duke still accepts 861 students from ED like they did last year, then that means that 4305 applied ED this year (vs 3516 last year) for the acceptance rate to be 20%. so around 800 more people applied ED this year
