@theboyoverthere @alicat937 oh thank goodness. y’all are the best for replying so quickly, thank you!!
I did and from what I’ve seen the people on this thread have too…is there anyone to confirm December 8???
aren’t we supposed to get an email the week before decisions come out?? thats what I’ve heard from previous years
Decisions will be released on the 15th - according to Duke.
@theboyoverthere that’s certainly not true. They always have that date on their website, but it’s more of a “by” Dec 15 date. they normally release it earlier, like on Dec 10th in 2015 and on Dec 14th in 2016.
From the 2021 thread, it’s clear that Duke Admissions sent a blast email on Dec 7 at 7:00 PM EST telling ED applicants that the decisions would be released on 12/14 at 7:00 PM EST. Some people seemed to know this 12/7 email was coming and what it would say because they spoke on the phone with the FA office and someone in the FA told them that.
That’s all I know. I have no idea whether Duke will send an email in advance this year saying when the decisions will be released and, if they do, whether that email will go out exactly one week before the decisions are released as it did last year. I tend to doubt the rumored date of 12/8 for the release of decisions for two reasons: 1) it just seems too early, and 2) maybe someone heard that Duke sends an email a week in advance and came up with the 8th because it’s exactly a week before the 15th.
My guess is that applicants will get an email sometime this coming week (12/4-8) providing a specific time on the following week (12/11-14) when the decisions will be released.
Hello guys! yeah…I heard they usually give results earlier…but by 15th the latest.
I AM IN A VERY VERRRRY STRESSFUL problem with my application because I have not been able to review or check my portal for some 3 weeks now! Whenever I login to my portal, I get into the website and then there is a blank page at the place where I would usually get all my portal info. Can anyone help with this situation if they had it?
Hopefully this helps but I had the same problem on my computer but it worked on another so try switching the computer? Good luck!
Maybe clear your search history or try another browser?
I would email the help desk (in the email they sent to set up your portal) - I had the same problem and they fixed it the next day.
guys I submitted all the required documents through the CollegeBoard IDOC portal but on the FinAid tab on the SISS portal it still says my parents’ federal tax returns and parent W2 forms are missing (“status” is “incomplete”)? Should I email the office or what. Does this mean I’m probably not getting in? All the documents I submitted on the IDOC say processed btw.
Just curious: How do they determine Washington Duke Scholars if Duke is need-blind? I’m thinking financial aid office and admissions office work together in some instances.
I had the same problem with my W2 and parent’s federal tax returns yesterday actually. it doesn’t mean that you’re not getting in, because duke doesn’t look at anything financial when determining whether or not you’ll get in. I had to call the college board about it and it takes about a week for the documents to be processed by both them and duke for it to show up in your portal
Okay but will I still be able to get my financial aid offer at the time of my decision (assuming that I, by the grace of God and all things holy, somehow get accepted)? @mfb2018
that I don’t know… I would think it’d probably just take a couple extra days if anything, but considering you’ve already submitted the forms, you should get ur estimate on time if you get in @junior1818
I had the same problem with those forms. I emailed the financial aid office and within an hour they were updated to completed on the portal checklist. I would call or email just to be sure that the forms were received. I’m sure it will be fine since you’ve already done your part by submitting the documents through idoc @junior1818
@theboyoverthere, good question. Did you know they recently changed the name to David M. Rubenstein Scholars? These scholars are admitted applicants, so I think they’re admitted first, then tagged for DMR Scholar consideration. Students indicate on the Common App if they are first gen students and also if they are applying for aid, so that narrows down the pool of possible scholars from the start. I also think these scholars have applications that hint of a possible good fit with the scholarship program through essays, community engagement, recs etc. Duke is need blind in admissions, but not in scholarship selection which happens AFTER admissions decisions. I don’t know any of this officially, nor do I speak for Duke obviously, but as someone who knows a lot about Duke, this is how I see it. PS if you are applying, good luck! Here is the wording from the scholarship website.
“Students who are admitted to Duke who indicate that they will be the first in their families to graduate from a four-year university, and who also meet financial criteria, are automatically considered for the David M. Rubenstein Scholars Program. Candidates whose Duke applications demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, resilience and a commitment to social engagement are likely to be considered.”
So when are the emails going to be sent out telling us when the decisions will be announced? Any intel?
usually exactly a week in advance, no?
Yes, but we don’t know that the decisions will come out on the 14th. It could be the 5th and 12th, or the 6th and 13th.
