Duke Class of 2022 Waitlist Thread

Did anyone get off the waitlist? My financial aid checklist wasn’t complete so I submitted a document and they emailed me back : “Thank you for your email and supporting documents. We have added them to the newly admitted student’s account and the financial aid checklist is now complete. In line with the commitment deadline, our office is working as quickly to complete a financial aid award letter for all student’s just admitted off the waitlist. Please continue to monitor your email for all communication and requests for additional information.”
Does this mean they already admitted some students off the waitlist?

Also, does anyone have an estimate or an assumption about how many were offered a spot on the waitlist?

Literally beyond stressed out at the moment. As I am in Australia, my A.O is dean Guttentag, who imagine is certainly a very busy person. But due to this factor(I think), duke hasn’t replied to any of my attempted communications(email to the dean, official email, physical letter). Do you guys have any good advise? Really can’t say how much I appreciate it!

I understand how stressful that may be, my advice would be just not to stress out, you can try asking your admissions officer to call your A.O or get an appointment, are you sure there isn’t a different A.O you can reach out to for the Australia/Oceania region? Just remember not to stress out though, everything will work out!

Thank you so much for replying. Although there are no other AOs in my region, I might give the general main line of duke admissions a call and try to schedule an appointment. Hopefully that would work. Thanks again.

No problem, I also meant to say get your admissions counsellor from school involved, he or she might be able to help. Goodluck, hope it works out!

Right I see. The word didn’t click with me immediately as Australian schools unfortunately don’t have dedicated admissions officer haha, but I think my principal can probably help me with this.:relaxed:Thanks for clarifying.

Yes I did

What does this mean?

Greetings from Duke!

I was reviewing the files of some students currently on our waiting list, and I noticed that you had been in touch with us a little while ago, updating your application and expressing a continued interest in Duke.

I know how people can feel differently when the possibility of a change actually presents itself, and since it appears as if we may be able to admit a small number of students from our waiting list, I thought I’d check with you to learn about your current interest in Duke. If your interest in Duke remains strong, please let me know, and also if there are any questions you or your parents might have at this point. I know the college decision is often a family one, and I hope that you and your parents are similarly inclined towards Duke. And of course if you are comfortable with your current college plans that would be absolutely fine too—just let me know.

I’d very much appreciate hearing from you about these matters, and I hope your senior year is concluding well.

Sincerely,
Christoph Guttentag
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions
Duke University

Interesting! By my read, it means just what it says: if you are still interested in Duke, and would take a spot off the waitlist if one is offered, you should let them know, very clearly, that you will come to Duke if offered a position off the waitlist. Since it mentions parents, discuss it with them too, and let Duke know if your parents would support the decision to go to Duke if you are offered a spot off of the waitlist.
And, if you (or your parents) are not interested in Duke above the current school you have committed to, let them know.
So, no guarantee of an offer of course, but it would seem as though you are in the next group being considered. I have no inside info at all, this is just my read of it, and I’d love to hear what others think.

Did ur AO originally respond to your LOCI?

And congrats! Usually that means you’re in

Duke is likely not going to offer a spot from the waiting list to students after the May 1 commitment deadline unless it knows the spot will be accepted. If Duke is still your first choice and you would immediately enroll if admitted, let Duke know that in no uncertain terms. Of course you will likely lose the deposit you made by May 1 at another school.

So I sent in a LOCI literally on april 1st, outlining some new accomplishments as well as some old ones that I forgot to mention. I also included some programs at Duke that I would like to take part in, it was about a page long. A few days ago I sent a 2 line email just saying that Duke’s my first choice and whatnot. This morning I had someone send in an additional letter of rec. Is there anything else i can do? should i call? or just let it be?

Just got off the list this morning :DD

pratt or trinity?

and congrats!

@manalmb Did u end up getting off yet?

@ogkun13 nope, not yet feels like i wont haha

hbu?

@manalmb trinity. I wouldn’t lose hope just yet. From what I’ve seen from last year’s waitlist, they took people off until Mid-May.

@prijas210 congrats again!! and thanks i really hope soo

did ur ao respond to ur original loci?

Nope:( That’s weird I thought getting that email from the dean meant u got in… anyways best of luck bro @manalmb and congrats @prijas210 that’ss awesome!!!
