I found this quite amusing quote from sports illustrated. It was under UMD as one of the most hated college basketball teams.

T-shirts emblazoned with f--- duke and a "F--- you, J.J." chant directed at Duke sharpshooter J.J. Redick. Injecting one of George Carlin's seven dirty words into Gary Glitter's "Hey" song, forcing the school administration to ban the anthem at games. That's the best Maryland students can come up with? Last March coach Gary Williams recorded a message that was played on the Jumbotron asking students to bite their tongues when it came to dirty ditties. Given their language littered with sailor lingo, it's hard to disagree when the Dookies counter: "You'll be working for us someday."

The last line just cracks me up. It's even funnier because I'm from MD and I know quite a few people that go there.

haha, i think its funny how many people were initially attracted to duke because of basketball... personally.. growing up i was neither for nor against duke basketball, except in certain games lol, but when i went to visit duke last summer.. i kinda fell in love with the campus, its amazing...

Coach K hates it when Cameron Crazies use profanity. 'Go to hell Carolina' is as far as we go with cursing. We say that we pride ourselves on being the best and classiest fans in basketball. Best is true, classiest is another story. Even though we're not Maryland (like you said loveduke22 they curse a lot during their games) we definitely aren't all that classy. 'You'll be working for us someday' is popular. So is 'safety school' to any other school playing us in the ACC. I'm not a big fan of those cheers. They're just mean.

Yeah really. Being from NC, I really looked for the best option instate. When I finally got to Duke it was like "Wow...this place is absolutely perfect for me in every way." I'm in lovee...

With the whole basketball thing...I've always been a sports fan, but mainly baseball/football. I kinda jumped on the bandwagon with Duke these past couple of years and now I'm SO into college basketball. Ahh, it would be so great.

Safety school...that cracks me up. I feel like all those cheers it's kinda like, all in good fun. Do you guys shake your keys alot? I heard crazies do that sometimes.

My public school has a rivalry with the Catholic school across town, and this really shows during basketball season. One of our normal cheers is "God's on our side" since we usually win. My school basically only has spirit at these games... our pep rallies are pathetic and almost no one goes to games against other schools. Good old VT...

No one has spirit at my school except the senior class...they seem to like, pass it along to the new graduating class. It's weird. So lemme throw out a question...we need some good quality discussion to take our minds off the waiting. What do you all want to major in?

Right now, I want to major in Biology with the intent of continuing on to grad school for genetics. I may end up double majoring in music, depending on how much of a hassle it would be. Otherwise, I will probably minor in music.

Very cool. That's an awesome interest. You were talking about that FOCUS program right? If I did focus that's the one I'd do, but then again, science is not my thing.

I didn't think science was my thing until I took AP Bio. The class was very difficult, but I enjoyed it. It's funny because every year there are two or three kids who take the class who decide that they want to do something with biology in college.

Awesome. I haven't taken any AP sciences, but whatever. I'm much more math/history oriented. I'm sure I'm good at science, maybe, I just hate it. lol.

I know right? The thing is, I've always been a strong student in all regards, except for English. I think the Math/History thing is more of picking things I'm good at AND like.

we have a geopolitics honors class at our school, invented by the teacher... its really cool! deals a lot w/ current events.. Because of it i have started to like history/social science more, but math is still my strongest area, followed by science.. then lunch... then english.... i hate english lol screw shakespeare

How often you checking this board? I posted a reply adn within 2 minutes you had responded lol

ooh, i'm in a Chaucer/Shakespeare class right now... we had to read Hamlet during the break and right now I'm writing a paper about the First Fragment of the Canterbury Tales and the human condition.
I'm not too good at lunch... usually for me, lunch is about ten minutes and I spend the remaining time either doing homework or talking with friends in the library.

i hate those two dead white guys... chaucer and shakespeare... although chaucer is better than Bill because all he does is make fun of people, kinda entertaining..

Ahh...we're doing Canterbury right now in AP Lit. ::gun to head::

I've just kind of been frolicing around all the boards tonight bc I finished all my work a few days ago, so that's why I replied to quick...lol.
