So I completely procrastinated and sent in my Duke app at the last possible second last night in order to make the interview deadline. upon waking up this morning I realized I didn't pay the application fee!! does this mean I will no longer be considered for an interview?

It depends where you live. Interviewers are assigned to committees by region. Some regions are able to interview a few students who apply after the deadline, others are not. I would say you should probably go ahead a send your payment in today and be first in line after the deadline.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Only has to submit the common app OR Duke supplement by deadline. So if you submitted both, you should be fine. Son got an email saying they had received the duke supplement, so he’s on time for interview deadline even though he hasn’t submitted Common App yet.

If you submitted some portion of your application so that they can open a file for you, then you will be considered for an interview. Your application does not need to be complete.

okay thanks so much! another quick question… i am waiting for a second academic teacher to finish a recommendation. already submitted on the common app i have two recs – one from an academic teacher and one non-academic. it appears my school forms were automatically submitted to duke with the one academic and one nonacademic rec by default (since my 2nd academic teacher has not yet submitted hers). I’m not sure what to do in this situation, since duke requires two academic recommendations. should i send the 2nd academic rec in the mail asap? any advice would be greatly appreciated…

I really wouldn’t worry about it. I got a call to do an interview today and I submitted both my common app and the supplement on the 29th. It depends on your area and your qualifications.

Just wanted to say that getting an interview is NOT dependent on your qualifications. It’s basically random (for the students that missed the interview application deadline) and is definitely dependent on your area and how many alumni are available in the area.
