@bulldog. I think that’s a really good sign. I got ivited to the BSAI weekend for African Americans and that basically says you have excellent chances at being admitted so I’m assuming it applies for the Latino weekend as well. Good luck!

I had the original post about that:p haha

But that’s good to hear!

I love how all of us are the same people from thread to thread. I would love to be accepted by Duke, but I doubt I will having already been deferred. I’m just hoping that out of my 5 reach schools, I at least hit one. I mean if I’m taking the shotgun approach, I should hit something right?

@Cesvar, I received the same E-mail. I think it does mean we have a very strong chance of being accepted did you read the brochure they sent in the E-mail?

@masterofcards, Im on vacation right now, so I haven’t seen it. I might get a chance to get it tomorrow when I get home.
What kinds of things do they talk about, or is it just an expanded version of what was in the email?

I’ll message you :)

He thinks they have Tufts syndrome lol it’s probably true.

Still, I feel like I have no hope of getting in…

cfl927…
Good to see ya! I’m the same, with my 9. -___-

random alert: am i the only one who was completely oblivious to the whole send your tax docs to the idoc and had to make a clutch move in sending that ish so it arrived one day before the due date? Duke received it by the 16th though…

No, I had other issues and wasn’t able to send my finaid papers until later because our taxes hadn’t been done since one of our documents was really late.

are we notified about merit scholarships before or after were notified about admissions decisions? if you haven’t heard anything about a merit scholarship yet is it too late?

Merit scholarships probably go to those who are truly outstanding–in other words likely letters…so I would assume that if you haven’t heard anything by now, don’t hold too much hope?

This is just my two cents though and I could be wrong :P

I received an email from the financial aid office requesting additional information. Could this be an indicator of admission? Does the financial aid office process all applicants or just those marked for acceptance by the admissions office?

GeeFizz, they’ve emailed the semifinalists of the merit scholarships such as Robertson and AB Duke and have interviewed most of them already I think.

@brbjmich, I think the financial aid office reviews ALL applications. I mean it would seem pointless for them to make a student pay $15 bucks to have the CSS profile sent to them if they weren’t going to review it, and it seems pointless for them to collect all of documents through the IDOC.

Are you an international student? Did you already submit your documents to the IDOC? If you did, were they successfully processed by the IDOC? What do you see checked off in the “Financial Aid” tab in your Duke account?

Did anyone else receive the email requesting further financial aid information? (I didn’t)

Is Duke not anyone’s number one school right now? For me, its contending with another proximal school and I can’t decide until I see financial aid from both. Oh and get accepted to Duke too!

It also seems pointless for them to request more financial information this late in the game, after probably 99% of the decisions have been made. It’s most likely an indicator of admission, though I wouldn’t hold my breath. Actually I probably would because they don’t have all of my financial info and I didn’t get an e-mail so you (brbjmich) probably did get in.

brbjmich, what do you have checked off in the Financial Aid portion of your Duke account?

In my Duke account, I have 6 things checked off under the Financial aid portion. I have the FAFSA checked off, Parent’s federal tax return checked off, Parent’s W-2 form checked off, Dad’s federal tax return checked off, Father’s 2011 W-2 form checked off, and I have Schedule E from Federal tax return checked off.

Does anybody else have all of this checked off?

We aren’t all going to have the same things listed, as circumstances are different. I have 8 things checked off and that’s because I have a noncustodial parent so all his information is sent too. Also, I don’t have “Parent’s W-2” because my parents are self-employed.
