Duke TIP

I am a well rounded student applying to duke with a 32 on my act and amazing ECs, and I am wondering whether having participated in the Duke TIP program will signifigantly increase my chances of getting in.

“signifigantly”??? No. Top schools expect their viable applicants to be occupied with worthy pursuits. The fact that one was held at Duke gives you no extra boost than the kid who worked at Burger King to earn money to help with the household bills.

Of course, the benefit you rec’d is the real value.

Students and families sometimes get snookered with the idea that these top-college hosted summer programs somehow give an extra edge to that particular college. They don’t inherently besides that they tend to be well-run and worthwhile.

No, from what I understand (and my son is a TIP alum), being a TIPster provides no advantage with Duke admissions.

It won’t matter one bit and if you never did anything else since 7th grade, you should not put it in your application at all.
