Does anyone know whether Duke favors students who participated in the Duke TIP summer programs?

I know one student who did it two years…waitlisted…had a very fulfilling and happy life at Vandy instead. I know another student who got in to Duke…but he was also a sibling after doing TIP…I don’t believe you can predict.
Incorporate these things that are enriching into your essays is my advice…more what you got out of it than what you signed up and paid for…always have other colleges in mind that you like…and good luck

TIP says that attending TIP will not affect an application to Duke at all. But bright kids attend TIP so the correlation with qualified Duke applicants has got to be pretty good.

Yes I wonder, does Duke send out many annoucements? I don’t see much from them and have done well. I hear more from John Hopkins and other comparable or higher schools. Perhaps they don’t send out alot.

I participated in TIP programs, but upon arriving at Duke, I haven’t ever heard the program mentioned. It almost feels as though the two are unassociated. So…while TIP might still have its bit of inherent merit as an academic summer program, I don’t think this merit is augmented at all by its affiliation with Duke.
