I've applied to RD to Trinity with the intention of majoring in Economics. However, recently I've become interested in doing Electrical & Computer Engineering as well, and I have gotten the impression that if you're doing a Pratt/Trinity double major your primary major has to be in Pratt. So if I am admitted, would I be able to switch into Pratt before freshman year so that I wouldn't have to complete additional requirements for Trinity? Let me know if anything I have said is incorrect. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Also, would I be able to do Duke in NY-Finance if I did this or are the engineering requirements too stringent for study abroad?

I don’t think you can transfer before freshman year. You can transfer from Trinity to Pratt, but they’ll look at your science/math potential. Even if you’re in Trinity, you can take classes to cover the Pratt requirements: Math 103, Egr 53, and a chem class. You’ll have to cover the Trinity requirement, which I believe is a seminar class.

Plenty of engineers study abroad. So long as you plan ahead well enough such that you can cover all your requirements, it’ll be fine.

The earliest that you can transfer is after 2nd semester.

Also, if study abroad is what you want to do, then you need to start planning for it as soon as you get on campus and meet your faculty adviser.
