<p>At this stage it is strictly a one-for-one replacement. The politically correct way of saying it would be, a “West Coast” student would be replaced with another student from the “West Coast”. Replace “West Coast” with you choice of ethnicity, sex, or any other category you choose.</p>

<p>Looks like very few people on Duke’s wait list are also on this forum. D hasn’t heard a peep from Duke other than being told by her college counselor that currently most schools are strictly on a one-for-one replacement mode, meaning a “West-Coast” student might be replaced with another student from the “West-Coast”. Of course that is the PC way of saying it. One can replace “West-Coast” with gender, ethnicity, major, etc…</p>
<p>Anyone get rejected? How many are still on the waitlist? My son’s regional officer said my son still had a chance a couple of days ago. But we have not heard anything since then.</p>
<p>For the first time in this process, I wrote a letter to the office of admissions last week. They actually responded, so evidently they are still in office. I’m surprised that they haven’t given any further notification to all waitlist students. If they placed thousands of students on the waitlist, you would think that with two extra months, they could hack some hundreds to find the few scores they may accept. No one has heard of any waitlist —> rejection, right?</p>

<p>Yeah chances are probably slim at this point. I was waitlisted as well and have heard nothing from them yet. I called them a few days ago and they said they’re nearing the end of their waitlist decisions process.</p>

<p>I got an email regarding sendoff parties the other day that began “The Class of 2016 has been set.”, which makes me think the waitlist has unfortunately been closed.</p>
