When I visited this fall one of the Reps said that Binghamton only accepts like 10% ea and defers 80%. I haven't heard/read this anywhere else. Anyone know where I could find the actual rate?

i doubt you will be able to find that information.
see binghamton's common data set for 2007 -- http://buoir.binghamton.edu/cds/CDS_2007.pdf

look at questions C21 &C22 - they're about early decision and early action. C22 regarding early action doesn't even have any provision for the type of stats you are looking for. my guess is that if its not even asked for on the common data set, which is the uniform format colleges use for reporting data, its probably not information that'll be readily available.

also - even if you could find stats for prior years, i doubt it'd help you figure out what to expect this year -- their applications were way up this fall. they may well want to take more time to see the overall applicant pool.

Yeah they told me that too. However, take a look at what I found on the college board's website:

Early Action Applications Received: 4,925
Number Admitted under EA: 2,592

It doesn't say what year that is from and I don't know if that counts applicants who were eventually accepted after being deferred or what the deal is. That is about a 50% acceptance rate for EA which is crazy.

Thats over 50% while their overall acceptance rate is 39% I find that hard to believe unless it was really old. Anyone have nay other data? Also, will they meet the 1/1 deadline for notifying us or do they have too many apps to do that?

Its right from the college board web site. Who knows though? And Bing's EA notification is 1/15

Well collegeboard has Bing's EA notification at 1/1 so that already questions how up to date they are.

Yeah..i would bet its from 2006 or 2007 because Bing used to be 1/1 up until this year due to the increase in apps.

I take it you applied EA as well?

S applied EA to Binghamton. Was told the stats for acceptance are higher for EA than RD.
don't remember the number or if any was given. Whatever it was, things were off for last year because of the larger number of applicants at all of the colleges. This year we still have the large college app aged population and the added complication of the economic situation which has brought the number of state school apps up. If too many are accepted early, it can severely impact the RD rate this year.

Yeah, I applied EA. I talked to my admission's counselor and she told me that the admission standards were the same for EA and RD.
