I only applied to UGA, so I’m praying I get in.
4.14 UGA gpa
29 act
12 AP, 7 before senior year
Everyone:
Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. A LOT of people apply and if you get deffered/denied it is not by any means define who you are. You will have a great undergraduate experience wherever you go, as long as you make most of it. So put this day in perspective and know that it’s only the beginning of admission season.
Good luck to everyone!
PS talk to your family first and then let us all know what happened! :-bd
@pallavijaniani not having any APs when they are not offered is not something you can help and they know that. They will look at which courses are rigorous at your school and if you’ve taken them. As far as GPA goes, I know how hard it can be to covert the indian format to 4.0 (I’m familiar with the system)
But it shouldn’t be too hard, some schools in the US do it slightly similarly and in worst case scenario, they’ll just look at your A to other letter grade ration.
Hope that helps!
@Xboxgamergirl I never called and asked but all over their blogs and social media the ad counselors told us not to ask for a specific time…when did you talk to them?
@ismitah , last Friday actually! Because I thought admissions coke.out in Jan. And everyone in my school was just spreading rumors. But I asked them and they said “later in the day” and then I asked them like 5 times what time and they said 4:15ish
They’re will be lots of deferrals here, is my prediction. They tend to take the top folks EA, many of whom are honors college candidates. Read their admissions blog.
I’d just like to say, I do not appreciate all you overly qualified people applying. Go find another safety
Unweighted GPA: 3.88
UGA GPA: 4.233
APs, IBs, DE: 5 APs, 1 IB, 4 DE before senior year/17 total all senior year
ACT: 27
Rank: 29/226
@jym626 why do you think there’ll be lots of deferrals? Online it said they accept about 70% of EA applicants
I think some of the scores and number of AP classes are just not high enough, that maybe true more for in-state and out-of-state
In-State
4.25 GPA (4.0 uw)
6 AP, 2 DE
2070 SAT
33 ACT
Top 7% of 650
NHRP Scholar
Excited for Decision!
Although they accept many in EA the applicants in the early pool are always stronger than that of RD. This is inherently because of foundation fellows.
But regardless of that, there is not magic test score or number of APs that will give you a ticket to admission. I truly beleive it’s all in perspective. For example, my school doesn’t have IB and a lot of the AP class is inflated. They know how to pick out the tough classes because they ask your counselors.
I feel bad because over half my senior class of 570 people applied EA and not everyone is going to get admission. Heck, I don’t even know if I’ll get in…
Fingers crossed for everyone
Just out! Strong group of EA Class of 2020!
The average GPA of students who were admitted through early action admission was 4.11, which exceeds last year’s average GPA of 4.01 and reflects rigorous coursework and an average of eight honors, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement classes. The average best SAT score this year was 1395-compared to 1374 last year-and the average ACT score increased by one point over last year to reach 31.
Hey guys! No decision yet, but they have released the press release of the admitted students stats (average ACT, SAT, GPA, etc.) You can find it on David Graves’ (hint: the same guy who runs the admissions blog) twitter account.
Just half an hour…
It’s out and its overloaded
GG decisions are out
on to RD now >_>
@medicsz , no worries!! Show your excellence through your essay!
I was accepted.
