EA class of 2020 results

Okay, so I guess you can find out about the honors later. But in terms of the scholarships, is that something you had to apply for or do you automatically get it?

I automatically got the Classic Scholarship. Haven’t even showed any interest in UGA

@Xboxgamergirl I got the Baldwin scholarship without applying, and I think the only ones you have to apply for are Foundation Fellows and Ramsey Scholars (from looking on UGA’s site: https://www.admissions.uga.edu/prospective-students/tuition-fees/scholarships)

Okay, is the scholarship listed on the same page where it says “congratulations, you have been accepted…”?

Does anyone know how to calculate a gpa for the Zell Miller/HOPE scholarships?

Also when calculating an un-weighted gpa, does it matter if a course is .5 credits or 1 credit? How do I account for that. In other words, how do I calculate my GPA on a 4 point scale?

@Xboxgamergirl
There is a calculation page on the zell miller website where you can see which classes give you the extra points. So for those classes ie AP and IB you add the point on top of the points you earn for your letter grade.
On a 4 point scale and no weight added:
4-90 and 100
3- 80 to 89
2-70 to 79

For classes that are .5 credits you have to divide the number in half

Then you add up all of your point and divide by the number of classes and you have your Zell/HOPE GPA.

Also, your counselor knows what your current HOPE GPA would be, which is the same calculation as Zell. However, it’s thanksgiving break so you’d have to wait on asking him/her.

Hope that helps!

Got it, thanks!!

There is no scholarship posted on my son’s page. He has Zell Miller and that’s all so far. Applied for the Ramsey foundation scholarship and is waiting for the news. I wonder what the criteria to be eligible for Classic scholarship and Baldwin scholarship. Anyone knows? Thanks!

@sunbeams , how does your son already have zell miller. From my understanding, a student gets HOPE/Zell Miller after their senior year (senior year grades factor in as well)

I qualify for sell miller as of now, but I haven’t received it because I was told that zell miller also calculates senior year grades.

@Xboxgamergirl I am assuming he makes all As through out senior year. And from the outlook as of now, he should. Fingers crossed!

@Xboxgamergirl Not sure if you know this, but UGA semi-directly responded to this allegation on twitter stating not to trust “confidential” posters and that they do not deny overqualified applications, or take part in yield protection. Flagships are much less likely to take part in yield protection because they exist to serve an entire state of people with various backgrounds and needs.

Anyway, I was also accepted EA

@TheAtlantic , oh. I was going off of the conversation I had with the dean and admission rep. But okay, thanks for letting me know. In that case I take back my post regarding the “over qualification”.

@TheAtlantic , thank you again and congratulations on your acceptance

@sunbeams , oh! Haha. I’m sure he will. Hopefully I will also be able to receive Zell Miller. Just have to sustain at least 3A’s.

@TheAtlantic Link? Looked on their Twitter and didn’t find it, sorry. Just wondering because I don’t see any other way that me and the other guy who imho are much better than your avg UGA admit (avg, not cc avg) got deffered

I saw that tweet as well! It’s probably hard to find since it was before they congratulated everyone on their admission tweets. They tweeted lots of people so you would probably have to go back quite a bit.

Heard a rumor that invitation letters for Honors were possibly out today… Mail hasn’t come yet. Anyone else?

Not a rumor!! per David Graves @ UGA Admissions Blog:

I believe they have now started mailing out Honors acceptances, but this is a Honors action, not admissions. Their communication is by mail by the way.

Good Luck to those waiting!!

S got email yesterday, inviting him to apply to honors. I thought he already applied prior…and just waiting for acceptance to honors?? …he will figure it out.
