is the office closed? can we call and find out?

It's open until 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. It is now 4:19 PST.

hmm who wants to ask? lol not me, i dont want them to think i call them four times a day.. which i would if they didnt ask my name.

What is the number that you guys are using to call Stanford?

(650) 723-2091
I've found if when you get to the recorded message you press "0" you don't have to listen to the message, and get transfered around. This works 99% of the time when you are calling anyone. fyi-"0" will "connect you to their first available associate" lol. good luck...

How much later do you think East Costers will get their letters? I actually don't want to get mine Saturday because I'll be out of town at a debate competition and that means my dad will check the mail!

Office of Undergraduate Admission: 650/723-2091
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (PST/PDT)
press "0" to get a human being

The List
Tomorrow's rotation in green; people who never called in red

6th--Vaish88 and hopeigtinmt
7th--JLP
If they don't have them by the 15th, they can call.
Tomorrow: please ask the receptionist if she can look admissions decisions up. JLP didn't apply SCEA, so she couldn't ask about her own decision. Thanks!

8th--college_hopeful and ranisparkle and anon686 and zsurf
I just called. They said that i should call on the 16th or 17th.. old news. BUT they said that if i called tomorrow, that they might have more information for us.
By Wednesday, everyone should have their letter in their hands. If not, I'm not sure the exact date for call-in is. ... I'm not sure when [the letters] will be mailed, yet.
9th--Ogi and Vaish88, maybe forever21
Tomorrow: please find out if mail is sent FedEx or regular USPS. Thanks!

10th--Irock1ce and ranisparkle

People who haven't signed up yet: qvdp, EnderWiggin, Bri, tigerfan17, jellybean24

lol Vaish, I made my list even more beautiful ;)

eeek. who knows. you know what we should do? contact the post office and see how long they say it will take for a letter from Cali to get to the midwest, and the east coast. b/c we all know it should get to close places-the next day. okay who wants to get on that? I'm only half kidding btw ;) so if anyone is very inclined to call them up. go ahead. I draw my line AT calling the USPS (we have an acronym test in AP gov, ohh this can double as studying, rolls eyesI wish ). I'm not that neurotic. Not that someone who calls is neurotic, but I'm nuts in more ways than calling Stanford daily. lol I'm done, I think i've done a pretty good job of digging myself a hole. yup I'm done. :)

someone-you're officially my hero!

Ha ha. You guys are awesome. We're all sick twisted individuals. I'll sign up, but it seems like everyone's doing a pretty good job calling by themselves. Personally, if I haven't gotten a letter by the 15th, I'm calling them then.

lol. if i havent gotten a letter by.. oh wait, yeah, im just gonna call tomorrow anyway. haha.

lol thanks jellybean--give me a date :D

My guidance councilor called today under the guise of some vague scholarship opportunity that required immediate response (wherein the Stanford admission would have a role in the decision-making process). She promised the guy that she wouldnt tell me and, according to her, almost got it out of him. Apparently though, he told her that he couldnt, under any circumstance, release the information over the phone until the letters were mailed. When pressed further (again, this is my councilors recollection), he then stated that once the letters were mailed, prospective students could phone in as to their admission status. So I assume well know by Friday or Monday? Oh, and by the way, this was entirely her idea somewhat strange.

They didn't ask me for my name...

I think you can take an educated guess at your USPS letter transit time. If you're gnarly enough, call your local USPS or go there and ask, they'll know better with the holiday rush and all.

I maintain that Californians will get their letter the next day or two days after (maximum) Stanford sends. That much is obvious. The real, burning question is, when are they going to send them?

p.s. It amazes me that there aren't more kids from California applying to Stanford from this forum. ~47% of each freshman class is from California, no?

Sorry I didn't call guys! I got home late and have been swamped with homework! Plus, I think the others who've called have given more than enough info. I'll call another time if you want, but please don't chastize me because I didn't today.

what the hell i DID call! eww someone

hopeigtinmt: so sorry--i actually did read what you wrote and meant to put it up, but it slipped my mind. sorry!!

colloge_hopeful: relax, relax, we aren't chastizing anyone, don't worry--you're right, people have given a ton of good info so far, and you didn't need to call today. good luck with hw!

Oh the suspense!! It is killing me! Oh boy, I hope Gamma is right and that we can call once they are out of Stanford's hands, hopefully friday! Oh my, I'm gonna be checking this thread tomorrow at school!

yay! pick a date and sign up, too

I'll probably end up calling tomorrow, so I'll post any new info. I called today, and all I got was that we would receive it by the 15th. I didn't wanna bug her so I didnt ask about calling in.
