EA Financial Aid is Posted

I don’t know whether everyone’s is out, but I got my FA over the weekend on the Fordham portal. Not quite as much as I’d hoped, but hopefully I can appeal for a bit more, and it’s not necessarily a deal breaker yet. I submitted my CSS on time and my FAFSA the first week in January.

Actually I just checked and it’s down now? The portal has an announcement saying that there are connection issues, though, so that might be it.

I found my son’s. He’s definitely not going to Fordham lol! Sort of sad but cannot remotely justify the cost when he’s gotten $20-38k from other Jesuit schools in big cities. Truthfully it’s sort of nice to cross one off the list and move on. Good luck to everyone who is still deciding. It is a great location and beautiful campus!!

Was this on the applicant portal or the my.fordham.edu?

I went to my.fordham.edu and selected “Welcome to Financing Fordham”. There’s a weird spreadsheet thing that’s pretty confusing. I’m not sure if this is what everyone else is seeing… It states that I got $12,500 in grant aid and a $12,500 Fordham Loyola Scholarship. Does anyone know if the Fordham Loyola Scholarship is a merit scholarship? Just curious, as when I received my acceptance it did not indicate that I had been awarded a merit scholarship.

Either way, the remaining cost of attendance is $39,000, so I will definitely not be attending Fordham.

my cost of attendance will be 54K and I live in a single income family. Yikes

Thanks, just saw mine. $44,000 after $7000 grant and $12,500 Loyola scholly, anf $5,500 loans, no can do. I came to terms with not going to Fordham a while ago though.

To another muggle, I pretty sure that the loyola scholarship is merit. I received it as well, but was not notified upon acceptance.

I received a 35,000 merit award, and it still isn’t even reasonable. . . Going to see if I can get more, though. Anyone have experience with the Fordham Financial Aid office?

Hmm. Thanks for the info.

For others who might wonder, my D got in EA and we don’t have financial details yet. We filled out CSS super early and FAFSA shortly after the new year. We’re definitely eligible.

If anyone above remembers, did you file FAFSA right around Jan. 1?

Thanks.

@MidwestMomTo2 my FAFSA was done the first week in January. Did you make an account on myfordham, which is different then the application portal?

I thought my D was showing me the myfordham site, but I’ll double check, @jnkam24.
Thanks!

I have not yet submitted my FAFSA, but I have submitted my CSS Profile, and I already received my aid package

Loyola is merit based. My daughter was awarded that.

For those of you who received your FA from Fordham, did you run the NPC prior to submitting your application? I’m just curious how accurate the NPC was.

We showed almost nothing on the NPC and got almost nothing, so yes it was accurate for us. I’m curious for those who are not attending and know for sure now that these packages - or lack thereof - have been sent out, are you withdrawing right away? For some reason I am hesitant to do that even though I know S won’t be going there.

@mjrube94 - we did do the NPC and it was fairly accurate. The only thing that was slightly off was the TAP award and we wound up getting a bit more in grant aid than what was stated in the NPC. Out of all the schools my daughter applied to, Fordham was the most expensive. But they gave the most money. Since she was rejected from her #1 (University of Miami) and accepted to UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego (they gave NO money-not paying $60K+ for a state school, I don’t care how great they are, and I couldn’t afford it) she really really wanted to go to one of the UC’s. Which wasn’t happening since we live in NY. It was down to Manhattan and Fordham. Though Manhattan gave more merit money, they gave less grant in aid money. Opposite for Fordham. But after running the costs, it was going to cost me about a thousand dollars more a year to send her to Fordham. Plus she didn’t like Manhattan. No brainer-we chose Fordham.

My financing fordham just takes me straight to my task list and all that says is “profile application college board”. Don’t see anything to find my financial aid?

@julia1611 Mine does that too. It used to work, but since today it’s sent me straight to the task list. They must be working on the website or something.

Got my award package in the mail today.
