EA Notifications

So if I’m from Md, and BC mails decisions tomorrow, I should get mine by Monday? Tuesday??

I truly think they sent out all the defferals. BC is probably just trying to avoid having people assume they are accepted. Their message is ambiguously worded, and BC refuses to answer whether or not all defferals have been sent out. I believe this is because they have sent them all, but dont want people assuming they were accepted before the letters arrive. I don’t understand how they could possibly have just emailed a portion of the defferals, and i would be willing to bet their facebook posts are just to protect applicants from assuming they have been accepted.

I completely agree

I also think it’s extremely unlikely they sent out those deferral emails by “mistake.”

In either case, BC is not the only school being “ambiguous” and technically you shouldn’t even inquire about the decision until Dec. 25.

Honestly though I am a bit frustrated by seeing all my friends having heard back and me being the only one left unanswered :/

As of this morning, I was literally the ONLY ONE of any senior I knew that hadn’t heard back from anywhere. The sole survivor, if you will.

Agree with the last couple of posts. I also understand that the release of deferral emails really has no effect so it shouldn’t bother anyone. Good luck though it will be here sooner than you know!

Oh and by the way, if the emails were specifically addressed to applicants with a greeting and everything, it would be hard to claim it as a “mistake”…

im sure theyre just BSing so they dont get complaints from people who assumed they would be accepted and wil instead get denied.

Don’t forget, that tomorrow’s mailing also includes rejections.

I realize it’s a stressful time and BC’s mistake did not help, but understand that they were probably still making decisions over the past couple of days. It’s an iterative process. Some auto-accepts (which includes recruited athletes); some auto-rejects. But both of those pools are relatively small. The vast majority of applicants require a first read, a second read, and lotsa discussion by committee. That takes time.

Good luck to all. May your mailbox be stuffed with a big envelope from Chestnut Hill.

so big letter = acceptance, small letter = rejection/deferral?

edit: thanks scottj for clarifying

if they are mailed tomorrow, when should we be getting them by the very latest?

I understand that when we find out really has nothing to do with the decision itself, it’s just so stressful! I guess that’s normal though. :p

I was thinking something along the lines of what has been said in the last few comments also, didn’t want to be the only one who said so though!

So nervous, esp. after the new information about the emails. Sighs, I’m just hoping for His hand in all of this uncertainty this senior year. :/

EDIT: All international will receive email results by the 20th.

Um, I don’t know if this significant at all, but last night I didn’t have an E tab and then it returned. So my E was temporarily missing last night.

My E just appeared…it’s not something significant tho, its just for email.

On the BC Prospective Student Facebook page this response was written by BC:

Boston College will mail decision letters to all EA applicants (Accept, Defer, Deny) who live in the U.S. The mailing date is today, December 14th. Earlier this week email notification was sent to some, but not all, EA applicants who were deferred to the Regular Decision process. Again, all of our decisions for EA applicants living in the U.S. will be communicated by mail. Hope this information is helpful to you and other students.

I’m really confused now.

Is this saying that the rest of the deferrals will not be emailed?

I’m starting to get really, really driven crazy by this. I wish their was consistency day by day in what they are reporting.

*there bump10char

Where on the facebook page are you seeing this? @pineview
