EA or RD?

I know Tulane is pretty reachy for me, but I absolutely adore the school and the city of New Orleans. I'm filling out my Personal Application now, but with stats like these (below), would it be more beneficial for me to apply EA against the smaller applicant pool, or wait for RD so my GPA can improve over the first quarter? Thanks in advance!

Class size is ~190 and I'm ranked around top 25-30%
GPA: 3.56
SAT I: m630, cr680, w730 = 2040 (retaking 10/10)
SAT II: Lit-740; USH-690
ACT: (Took yesterday, will know in a few weeks.)
Will graduate with 10 AP classes & all honors curriculum.
Senior Course Load: AP Stats, AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Bio, Italian 5.

Extracurriculars:
Student Peer Leader (Application/Interview process)
Yearbook co-editor (Application/Interview process)
Literary Magazine editor-in-chief
Newspaper Reporter
Actively involved in student council
Varsity Badminton

Private Tutor

Altar Server
Religious Education teacher

Work Experience:
Clerical work for a neurosurgeon for two summers and after school two days/week.

Summer Programs:
Two years - Summer Institute for the Gifted
Two years - JHU CTY
Two years - research program at a lab

Honors/Achievements:
Honor Roll
National Honor Society
AP Scholar
A few writing awards

Essay will be extremely strong and my reccomendations should be decent. Applying as an English/Writing major and hopefully minoring in Italian and/or poli sci.

I think you look like a good candidate. Would be easier if your test scores were higher, but the EC’s the number of AP’s and the JHU CTY program and such are good. Also your anticipated major probably helps, but not as sure about that. Is the GPA weighted or unweighted?

So I think you will almost surely get in RD, which means you will probably get in EA. I think you have little to lose going EA, because I really don’t think it would hurt you at all for RD if they defer you. But I like your chances. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks, fallenchemist. =)

My GPA is UW. It should be weighted somewhere around 3.7, but I won’t know for sure for another few weeks. Hopefully my scores will be higher by the time I apply. I’m hoping to pack another hundred points onto my SATs, at the very least.
