Howdy folks, my name is Hank. I have been working very hard toward my goal of getting into a decent school. I applied TAMU this summer after I finished my freshman year.

Here is my grades:
Calc I, II, III: A
UNI PHSY I: A
World GEOG: A
Architecture: A
History 1&2: A
Composition 1:B
TX govt:B
C programming: C
GPA:3.63

I used to have decent GPA, but this semester I took this programming class and it dropped my GPA by .2. I was so mad, but couldn't drop the class because of my international status...(more than half of the class already dropped)

By calculation, possibly I can pull my GPA close to 3.8 after 2 semester. In addition, I have to take more than 100 course hrs to get to 3.9 :(

I know I won't get in PetE this time since I don't have my PHSY II done. Do you think I will get in Marine Engineering which is my 2nd choose? And is there something like general engineering spot if I got denied by second choose?

I'm also thinking about other PetE engineering school in TX. UH or UT(probable a lot harder to get in than TAMU). Do you think I should give UT a try?

Guys, is there any way that I can do to make my application status looks good? taking SAT II? I can do really well in math and science, just not programming thou...

And what are some disadvantage and advantage of going to UH? I know some students can do intern all year round, which sounds better than other schools. And they are registering for ABET this summer. Cheap tuition.(I have to pay 750 every hour I take in TAMU...)

Thank you for your time and inputs!!
