Just got my scholarship letter! $27,250 a year!
I think they take everything into account because I have a 3.4 UW and 4.1 W, but all my classes are honors and AP. 2100 SAT

Like FormerTarHeel, my D received letter today - $14k per year. We are OOS. Yes, that is confusing, as $14k is less than 1/2 scholarship, albeit not by much. The good news is that the letter made it seemed like the official package in March could be higher than $14k.

We are out of state, but I don’t think he’s been offered any special programs, other than Farmer business school.
Does anyone know how much OOS tuition will be next year?

@twosevenoffsuit- S received a letter from Miami inviting him into the program and offering him the $2000 scholarship. The letter just came a couple of days ago.

The scholarship letter that arrived today seemed hopeful that there may be more available in March :)

My daughter’s award didn’t change from December to March. She was awarded the lowest amount she could get based on her stats in December. Her GPA was 3.92 unweighted and ACT 32. She was given half tuition and is now a sophomore at Miami. She had to write three additional essays to get into the honors program! So glad that was changed!

OOS tuition for 2013-14 is $29,589.

My D is OOS (MD). Admission letter last Tuesday and merit scholarship letter today. $14,000/year. LESS than half. Not by much, but still less than minimum guaranteed by matrix provided. She has 3.7uw and 4.4w. 33 ACT. Basically 4 years of solid AP and Honors. Loads of solid ECs with leadership, 5 honor societies, community service, and so on.

No mention of honors college. Not to seem ungrateful but we are underwhelmed. Other schools ranked higher showing her lots of love. MiamiU…not so much. :(

Same here cheermom. They gave her the least amount of merit out of 5 schools. It has dropped to bottom of D’s list though that isn’t why.

Similar for my daughter. Letter said she was accepted into the honors college but then gave her $14,000 dollars. She is a National Merit Semifinalist and being offered full rides from better schools. Looks like Miami is out for us.

Does MU consider interest, i wonder?

OH Momof2, not sure if interest is considered, but we did visit the campus, made an appointment with the Farmer Business school, attended an Honors Program session, etc. We certainly weren’t expecting the maximum award, but it is puzzling why they would offer a few hundred short of the minimum. Good Luck to all.

We have not visited the campus but my son did go to an info. Session at school and has been in contact with the admissions rep for our area.

Applied EA and still haven’t heard back yet. I applied to Farmer. 3 varsity sports, 1900 SAT, 29 ACT, 3.55 weighted GPA. I thought I had a pretty good chance of getting in. Is it still possible to be accepted into Farmer? Has anyone else not heard back yet?

I called the financial aid department regarding scholarships yesterday. I was told that the merit awards that we were mailed in December were just an estimate, and may not include any departmental scholarships. The actual merit amounts will be mailed in March.

Thanks for sharing, Musikman.

My son was admitted and invited into the UASP. His scholarship award, OOS, was $20,000 plus $2000 for honors. Stats: 34 ACT , 10 writing. Great recommendations. We did tour. AP taken five so far with all a 4 or 5 and have three more to take this year. Class rank: 19/551 ( very competitive HS) . 3.9 UW GPA, 5.1 W. Varsity baseball player, few EC’s, but does umpire and coach youth baseball. Still waiting to hear from his top choices, vanderbilt and Washington and lee. What is the criteria for Stamps?

@Perch1024 Miami will select 10 students that they feel are the top or best students to receive the Stamp scholarship. I’m sure the entire picture of the student is evaluated: stats, rigor of coursework, extra-curriculars, and community service. Some schools require additional essays and interviews, but I’m not sure about Miami. The awards will be announced in the Spring.

Your son has a lot to be proud of! Best wishes to him in his college search!

Congrats to all accepted! Miami is a great school.

@IllinoisWisco, my son has also applied EA but hasn’t heard yet. The online status says he’ll receive a decision on 1-Feb.

He has solid stats, but we have not yet visited. We also applied EA by the 12/1 deadline but it took the Common App over a month to mark our school report as complete.

Son got accepted in EA, waiting for the pkg to see the Merit Aid…
