early action alumni Interviews

Princeton Early action deadline was extended to Nov 7. It's now Nov.21st and we have had no contact about an alumni interview. Should we be worried. When would one normally be contacted?

Applicants are interviewed if there are available volunteer spots. Your getting called or not has no bearing on your eventual decision. Reports are due Dec 01 so it’s unlikely that you’ll be contacted, frankly.

About 5 students from my school applied SCEA to Princeton, yet none of us have received an interview either, while students from neighboring schools have. Will the 5 of us have a small chance of getting an interview if a notice hasn’t come by Nov 21st? :(

Who can say? All applicants’ names are forwarded to the field alumni groups who assign them to the volunteers. It’s chance and a weird coincidence about you five vs. those at the other school.

when you are trying to will something into a reality, you look for any positive sign that indicates that direction. If some are contacted and some not its hard not to read “a no contact” as you are not so much on their radar screen.

That’s why it’s important to know what, if anything, a no-contact means. The school does not pre-sort your application in order to select interviewees. The zero chancer is treated just like the shoo-in. The names are sent to area groups and they are assigned. Interviewers and their coordinators know nothing about the students. Indeed, at the time the names are sent out, even Princeton knows nothing except the file is complete – it’s extremely unlikely that a pair of human eyes has even begun to read the file contents at that time. There is no time to pre-sort and then order up interviews. Make sense?

A no-contact means nothing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much
