Hi guys
I just wanted to know if it makes a difference to apply early vs regular at Northeastern, and if it does then in which case would I have a higher chance of being accepted Early Action or Early Decision? Or do they have the same rates of admission?
Thanks
I believe ED and EA/RD had similar admission rates in 2016-2017, but the profiles of each pool were not released. I suspect that ED does give a small advantage because the ED has a slightly weaker pool of applicants despite having a similar admission rate. That said, ED should not be taken lightly and only used if a school is your true #1 and you are financially safe without any aid or scholarship. While still eligible for both, it’s unwise to rely on those and possibly complicate the ED agreement if the offered aid/scholarship makes the school unaffordable. While it is a valid way to break the ED contract, I don’t think the additional stress is worth the possible small bump in chances. Applying EA still should send a message of interest compared to RD, which is something Northeastern considers according to their CDS.

Yeah Northeastern is definitely my top choice but the problem is I can’t choose between it and Cornell for my number one choice. Since Cornell only has ED I was thinking I would apply ED there and EA at Northeastern and if I don’t get into Cornell I would still have a better chance than regular decision at Northeastern
So as far as you’re aware acceptance rates between ED and EA don’t differ at Northeastern?
There’s not really much info released on them to say (old numbers + no admission pool statistics), but it doesn’t really matter here since you really don’t know which school is your #1 - I don’t think I’d recommend ED for either school.
