Does anyone have any experience with this program?
It looks incredible and I plan to apply to it, but I haven’t found much info on the program.

Have you read about it on their site? The site is here:

You don't actually "apply" to the EAP. They invite you if you are a National Merit Finalist. At that point, admission is competitive based upon applications and interviews.

But it does sound pretty cool.

Good luck!

PennilessParent, you do have to apply to the EAP (a why doctor essay, teacher recs, extracurricular activities, and the like); there is no inviting, as far as I know. In fact, if you know that you are at least a National Merit Semifinalist, you are encouraged to apply -- but your application will not be considered if you do not become a Finalist.

AND. Just in case you don't know, prepremed... you do have to indicate that OSU is your first choice school; otherwise, you don't qualify for the program.

I applied this year and was invited back for an interview (I have no idea on the percentages at this stage). However, I declined the interview (thus forfeiting my chance at being accepted to EAP) because I found out I was accepted to my first choice school.

I was basing it on our experience. My son was invited after his NMSF status was known to OSU. But you're right, there is an application process.

Congrats and good luck with your first choice school!

I've read as much as I can about it, but the information is limited (as opposed to other direct BS/MD programs) as only about 8-10 applicants apply each year, of which half get in. My chances look reasonable, and the school looks like a pretty good fit for me. I'm definately going to apply next year and will visit OSU sometime before then.

I went to OSU & studied biology & chemistry. A good friend of mine was in that program. Most of us were jealous. OSU has a top-notch medical school. And if you're interested in doing research while you're there, it's a very good bet. The school is so big that no matter who you are or what your interested in, you'll find like-minded people.

hmm...do you guys know how tough it is for national achievement finalists to get in?

I have a bunch of friends in the program. They told about the interview process, and they were interviewed in groups of three or four. Of each group interview group, about one person per group was accepted into the program. I think that there about fifteen to twenty spots in the program.

I don't know how they view national achievement finalists. In my friend's EAP group, there are a couple African Americans, but I assumed that they were national merit finalists.

do you know if you have to mark ohio state as your first choice?
