Early Answer? Is this the best chance of getting in?

Im a pretty average student entering senior year- 1160 SAT 2.63 unweighted GPA and 3.50 weighted. Im very active in sports, but only in one club. I’m pretty concerned about my admittance chances and want to give myself the best shot. I know some schools advice not to apply early decision if you aren’t a strong student, and other schools advise it gives you the best odds. Is applying Early answer any better odds of admittance? Or should I apply regular decision?

I would try to get your sat score up to at least a 1200 or above to be competitive. And you may want to try to raise your gpa first semester and then apply regular decision. Good luck!

I think that you should apply early action. My son did and got in. I read that it increases your chances. I think that you need to get your SAT score up over 1200 as well. South Carolina recalculates your GPA, but I am not sure how they do it. Also, get in as much volunteering as you can. Worst case scenario, you get wait listed for regular decision. The good news is that you have plenty of time to do these things. So go for it!
