Early Decision at WashU

i agree with u imiracle.....i think what really got me ticked off was when he/she told me that UMCP was a REACH for me i mean im sry but that was completely ****ed up

hey sorry i didnt mean to be mean, its my opinon but i think we can agree to disagree--lively debate is why I come here! I wish you good luck!

i guess but i dunno what do other ppl think about what totallysweet said? if u all agree with totallysweet then maybe im wrong

I don't know about the other schools, but I can comment on WashU based on personal experience. Based on your GPA and SAT, I don't think your chances are very good. In 2004 the mid 50% SAT was 1350 - 1520 with 93% being in the top 10% of their class. From what I understand these stats increased for the freshmen that just entered. Last year they had 21,000 applications for 1,400 freshman spots and they expect an increase in applications this year. This places you in the lower 50% of accepted students. Worth a try - but don't count on it. Get your GPA and SAT up and apply ED to have a shot.

yea i kno from this thread as a whole that WashU is basically just a reach for me, and i have a shot at it just not a very good one....but i think that i have pretty decent chances at the other schools i listed except for uva

okay -- call university of michigan and ask them, they are very honest. get their # on the admissions website and call--you'll feel better. your chances will be very slim theyll tell you.

....they're going to tell me that they cant tell me without looking at my application as a whole.....

sry totallysweet but i think that ur advice is totally uncredible....im not being mean...im being realistic.....u kno how to say the obvious with UVA but some of the other schools are definately not reaches and michigan i went to the michigan forum and asked Alexandre whos the expert on Umich there...he said its a match/reach for me so basically a match + .......quite the contrary to ur assessment that i have slim chance or an awful to none chance there.........

its otay..i called the office of the admissions and they said the same thing basically, i was bored/curious. they were like yeah you won't be a priority candidate and basically theyll defer(they don't actually defer bc its rolling, but theyll procrastinate) your app until theyve seen more. they said then theyll evaluate it and although you're in the bottom 25% and out of state you might have some extraordinary qualities. (on CC we call it a hook). good luck.

i really doubt that u actually called them.....college admissions panel will never say how they're going to judge ur application they always say bla bla holisitc approach and we cant tell until we look at your entire application....and u called them posing as me? thats really scary too...

You got enough advice so i recommend working on your applications than just waiting for responses here. It doesn't matter that your chances aren't that good. Just apply early. Remember everything about you is in the way you present yourself on the applications.

Since you're defending yourself, you obviously think you have a shot, so just go for it. Prove it to the adcoms, not the CCers who'll criticize and discourage you (probably for a good reason).

This is just a personal pet peeve: your excessive use of ellipsis makes you sound like a very.... hesitant.. and inconfident person.

what do u mean by ellipsis?
