Early Decision Class of 2022

@Southern5062, has a great read on Wake, very welcoming, accepting, etc. Extremely easy to meet many freshmen at orientation. Upon driving up to move-in day, S mentioned he wished he had signed up for a pre-orientation (thanks kid), but I think that was last minute nerves talking (as he didn’t know anyone, literally). At orientation, there is programming for students and parents. We stayed for a day of parent programming and “ran into our son” mid day and he was already fully immersed in activities with other students, had been up to 3 am the previous night getting to know kids on his hall, etc. With or without the admitted days or pre- orientation (both great if logistically and financially feasible), you will have NO PROBLEM meeting people right away.

To give both of you a warm and fuzzy feeling about your new future home, my S would tell you after one semester, he knows no one who regrets their decision of coming to Wake Forest. He is a substantive person. Social but not bubbly. Better in intimate settings than “working the crowd”. Not a loud back slapper but has a lot of fun. Not an introvert, but certainly not an extrovert. He has TONS of friends at Wake and it all started at orientation.

Best of luck to both of you!

@Southern5062 and @chevy16 we did attend the admitted students day(we are also form CA) but my son was deciding if he wanted to go and like @rickle1 S is really happy!! He is looking forward to going back after break which says something. My S did a pre-orientation program and was so happy he did. He felt like he met a lot of people and got a head start settling in at Wake. Plus it was really nice to move in early. He did Deacon camp and really liked getting to know more about Wake and its traditions. If I had one piece of advice and you can afford it do a pre-orientation program. Though @rickle1 S seems to have settled in just fine they are a good opportunity to start your college career. Good Luck!!

anyone applying ed2?

I applied ED II.

Was anyone able to get an interview for EDII?

Did any of you apply for the Presidential Scholarship for the arts (music, dance, voice, debate, theatre?) I think we start hearing in late January if we are finalists. If any of you applied, please share!

I applied for a theatre scholarship! What about you? @2013GMSwinner

@lawlover0520 … Have you heard anything back yet? And are you male or female?

I just spoke with my regional counselor. The department is reviewing my materials and will soon announce finalists! I’m female.

@lawlover0520 I am new to this thread; also applied for Theatre scholarship so hoping to hear soon. Please share and also post when you hear anything. Good luck!

If any of you are invited to any particular merit scholarship weekends / visits, please share! I haven’t heard that any invitations have been extended yet, but I would think that might happen in the next few weeks…

Update on Merit Scholarship invitations - I saw a post late this evening (on another Wake Forest thread) that someone received their email today with the invitation to visit campus to apply for one of the full-ride merit scholarships (Carswell, Stamps, etc…). So those invitations are out - at least some of them! There are two different weekends for visits - Feb 15-18 and Feb 22-25. Here is a copy of their post.

…“I received an invitation today- I am thrilled! The email said that each year, they invite 24 students to campus to interview for the full cost of attendance merit scholarships (Tuition, room, board, food, flights, books, a stipend, etc) worth 300k.”…
Note - that this is not the Presidential Scholarship for arts ($16,000/year). The Finalist visits for those “may” happen those same weekends, since there are theatre performances scheduled for those weekends and they usually invite the Presidential finalists when there are performances scheduled. But I don’t know anyone yet that has heard about being a Presidential Finalist and those dates above are only confirmed for the full-ride scholarship finalists, not Presidential.

@lawlover0520 My friend’s mom got an update today from WFU re: the Presidential Scholarships for Theatre. Notifications for Finalists have not yet gone out. They hope to have those out by the end of next week. The Finalist Weekend will be Feb 22-25th. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the update! I’ll let you know if I hear anything  Here’s hoping we’ll get to meet in person at the scholarship weekend!!! Did you apply as an actress or a theatre writer?

@lawlover0520 I applied for acting. Fingers crossed…

Is there a Facebook group yet for new students?

@ralolaflare I beleive I read that there would not be one until early May (I assume for all newly admitted students and not just Early Decision.) Anyone else, please comment if you know differently.

@lawlover0520 My friend’s mom got word that Presidentlal Scholarship invitations for Theatre were mailed a couple of days ago. Don’t know about all of the groups (music, dance, etc…) but she was referring specifically to those applying for Theatre. Campus visit will be Sunday through Tuesday Feb 25th - 27th. Best wishes to all that applied.

My ED 2 decision got mailed yesterday  Any other international students? How long does it take to arrive usually, wont be back at home for another 2 weeks, wish they posted decision online… Went in with a predicted 38/45 (IB) anyone know my chances haha…
Good Luck everyone
