Am I the only person who chose not to send in their test scores?
@jerseyperson4 I sent mine but a 1370 is basically average for them - not exceptional at all. But I have read a lot of other threads about Wake Forest (even CollegeConfidential from the past couple years) and people were definitely getting accepted without sending them. I asked about it in my admissions interview and they said without even hesitating - “Don’t send them if you don’t want to. The transcript is far more important - weight of your curriculum, GPA, etc… and if your scores are not included, we just keep reading and look at everything else.”
@jerseyperson4, no you’re definitely not. We’ve heard a couple of presentations from school officials–not ones in admissions. They consistently said that a fairly large portion of incoming classes–not a majority, but a large minority, can’t remember the %–did not submit test scores. They said they found no correlation between test scores and college grades. Correlation was between high school grades and college grades. Don’t feel like that will be a deal breaker in any way. Good luck!
I also did not send my scores so don’t worry, you’re not the only one. Is anyone here applying from California?
Any of you planning to study Theatre?
Hi @Southern5062 could you please send a photo of what the acceptance packet looks like. Thanks so much!
@Chevy16 It was approx 8 x 10 and matches the cover of this year’s ViewBook… gold background with black ink ‘sketches’ of different people’s faces all over it. If you do an internet search for Wake Forest Viewbook, the first thing that came up for me was the 2016-17 viewbook and that first page graphic is what it looks like.
@Momcoast @DaltonPeabody This may be a discussion thread of interest to you. Good Wake Forest chat!
Got my acceptance letter yesterday! It is slightly larger than a piece of printer paper, with black and gold people on it and on the back it says “let your deacon flag fly!”
Basic stats:
34 ACT, I sent it
4.3 weighted gpa prior to my senior year
3.8-3.9 unweighted(unsure as my school does not list it)
Only one AP, US history my sophomore year, 5
A few honors courses
Full IB Diploma my junior+senior years, 4 HL classes and 2 SL classes
Less than stellar extracurriculars:
6 years as a competitive equestrian
Created a small project to feed the homeless population of my community
Salvation Army soup kitchen food prep
My real selling point is that I currently work 2 jobs simultaneously, about 25 hours a week
I interviewed but wasn’t confident following it as I said some questionable(face palm) things
My essays were fine but nothing too special. My top ten was very safe, reasons why I wanted to attend WFU
I applied on November 15 and received my letter almost exactly a month later
Best of luck to all still waiting!
I’m nervous about financial aid. I really need about what the estimate was from the FAFSA calculator. Does anyone know if Wake gives around the estimate? I know they have limited merit aid.
@sms796 Congratulations! For financial aid, the better estimate will come from using their Net Price Calculator on the Wake website. Wake uses the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA and their Net Price Calculator will come closer to your offer. The CSS Profile takes into account certain things the FAFSA does not, including the equity your parents have in their home. (There is a cap to how much of it they count… I think it is capped at 2x your parents’ income or something close to that) Another factor the CSS Profile takes into account (that the FAFSA does not count) is the income of a noncustodial parent, if your parents are divorced. I hope it all works out for you! Try the Net Price Calculator and see how it works out. Congratulations again.
@sms796 What state are you from? Do any of you know if they take a break during the end of December for holiday break? Will all early decision notifications be sent out by then? Thanks!
@sms796 I haven’t read anything that mentions all decisions will be mailed by the end of the year. Not sure about their holiday schedule.
@Chevy16 I’m from Ohio. I applied on November 15 so yours should be coming soon!
Accepted 4 weeks ago. I’m from NewJersey. For those that applied…Anyone receive their financial aid offer yet?
It’s been six weeks since I applied on November 14th and still no letter. Should I call next week and see if for some reason they had sent it and I hadn’t gotten it. I live in California so maybe the mail is slower but I really want to hear back soon.
Just accepted! Received my packet today
@Chevy16 Congratulations ! That is really great! It’s an incredible feeling, isn’t it? Time to get a Wake Forest sweatshirt… Go Deacs!
Does anyone know if ED II decisions are rolling as well? Or is it just a notification on February 15th? I saw the February 15th date on their website, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks
