early decision interview?!?! did you get one?

hey, i wasnt contacted about an interview for early decision.... I had my application in way before the deadline for interviews... whats up?!?! am i an autoadmit/autoreject or something?!

did everyone else get interviews?

i got an interview and my part 1 wasnt in before oct 1st, it has to do with location i think, so if you live in a densely populated area theres a lesser chance of getting one

i live 45minutes from washington D.C. haha, whats up with that!

i live 10 miles away from NYC, ya got me

Any One Else Get One?

I never got an interview. Too bad my mom couldn't do one for me though. I also handed the app in too late. I think I sent my completed application in on the 28th of October, so I sent it in last minute. No time for interviews anyways.

i got one, but i live like 20 mins from duke

haha when did u submit your application? i submitted the first part of mine in august, WAY before the oct. 1 ED deadline for interviews...

I think you needed the whole application in by the deadline

the website said submit part one by the deadline.. mmm

i submitted my first part of the app on october 20th and got an interview a few days later

i submitted the first part of mine on august 26th and was never contacted...

i never got one either, although that is partially because I sent my Part I in around the 15th of october. don't worry about it though, it's not required - if you're strong enough, you'll get in.

I got one.

Simone1122, where do u live? I live in Elon about fourty miles west of Duke

mmm i am nervous about the no interview thing!!!

I got the optional recommendation for character from my best friend's mom, but that was not until late october, way after i should have gotten an interview...

perhaps there are no duke alumns that do interviews in my area? i am only about 45minutes from dc but perhaps they considered it too far?

Check this out! this is the letter my friend's mom wrote for me and sent to Duke.. it is the nicest thing anyone has ever written about me.

We have been fortunate to know Philip and his family for thirteen years, as he and our son entered kindergarten together. He has been as much a part of our family as we have his. We noted his engineering mind pretty much right from the start. He seemed to have a head for numbers. He was curious, and even in his primary years, he always seemed to be resurrecting something. We weren’t at all surprised when we learned his journey to college might embrace the engineering curriculum. We know him as Phil, I through indirect supervision in the elementary setting where I work, and my husband as his baseball coach, during his elementary, middle, and high school years. We refer to him more affectionately as our “second son”, because he spent much time growing up with our family.

Philip is a fine young man whom we feel has the aptitude to excel in his scholastic endeavors. He has maintained a solid academic background, earning “All A Honor Roll” through his primary and middle school years, continuing to keep pace with the best in his senior class. At times we felt he wasn’t sufficiently challenged, though high school presented a welcomed variety of more demanding classes and a better test of his knowledge. He rose to the challenge while balancing his schedule with his first love, baseball, which he continues to play avidly in the county recreation league--spring, summer, and fall, and at the high school varsity level, coached through much of it, by Mr. Kelliher directly. Once Philip completed training to become a league umpire, we realized his love for the game stretched beyond that of “one of the guys”.

Phil is respected by his peers, coaches and classroom teachers for his fervent intellect, and his ability to balance time on the ball field, work, volunteer activities, and responsibilities to his family. You will read about his academic accolades, to which speak highly of his character in general, and make the connection, as we have, that this young man is intelligent, inquisitive, and ready for the challenge of a continuing education. We trust you will give his application careful consideration. We feel certain Philip would make a fine addition to your school, and know that his success will be balanced with an ambition to excel simply through the joy of learning.

wow, that is really nice

i am just worried about no interview.

don't worry about it... that's why interviews are optional. They're just trying to find more reasons for you to be accepted. The letter has the same effect.

hopefully..
