Early decisions vs. regular

What is the difference between early decisions and regular decisions?

Which one is better/increases your chances of being admitted into top tier schools like the ivies/stanford?

Under what conditions/situations only should you apply for early?

Thanks! :)

Do you know how to use Google?

Early decision is when if you get in, you HAVE to go to if you get accepted. You have to sign a contract and everything. The only way to get out of it is if you have significant financial need and there’s no possible way you or your family will be able to come up with the money in time to pay the fees. You generally have to apply before November 1st or 15th to the one college, and you will receive your decision around the middle of December. You can only apply to one college.

For regular decision, you aren’t obligated to attend the college if they accept you. Generally, the due dates for the applications are January 1st. Some schools are later, some are sooner.
