"Early write" numbers exploding at Williams

Thanks to those who wrote that they got a phone call, too.
I was really nervous that it would be some kind of cruel joke...paranoia, i guess. heh.
Still, I'm really anxious about receiving the letter and other cool stuff! Now I will have to feverishly check the mail everyday (not that i wasn't doing that before..)
Congrats to the other early writes!

I GOT AN EARLY WRITE!!!!!!!!!!1

AND THE NOTE WAS SOOOO NICE. <333333 eeeeeee

Congrats. Two super votes of confidence.

I GOT ONE! I got accepted to UNC-Ch.hill, UCLA, Amherst, and Williams! I have no colleges that rejected me yet. Also I got likely letter from dartmouth and columbia! Though I got defered from Harvard, I'm happy enough!

Wowowow ^! Congrats on that!! With so many likelies, who cares about Harvard?

Hahaha. I definitely care about both Williams and Amherst muuuuch more than I did before my two early writes. But now I have a tough choice ahead of me!

Expect a couple of letters from specific departments you might have shown interest on your application.

You may also receive some phone calls from students they have put on your case. Williams really does a good job following up their "early writes".

So in your guys' opinion, is not getting an early write yet a really bad sign??

Only three people at my ordinary Floridian public high school applied to Williams--which includes myself and two of my best friends.

ALL three of us got early writes. All our SAT scores are below 2200. Is that strange at all?

We're rather different; one's white, one's Hispanic, one's Asian. One loves the media, one loves political science, one loves English (none of us are science/math types).

But for a school as selective as Williams picking up 100% of all applicants at my school?

Eh, seems like there are definitely more than 200 early writes... more than 300 or 400 even.

I just got a phone call!!!! Hell yeah, i'm on a roll. A Northwestern likely letter, early write from WashU and Williams, acceptance at 3 other schools!!! 6 down, 5 to go.

The line between regular decisions and early writes is blurred. Early writes were notified back in February, and regular decision candidates are being notified as decisions are made. This is why people are hearing at different times

Well, in the letter, they actually mentioned that this is an "early write", even though it IS March.

Rolling regular admissions

Yes, they are notifying you early. It seems, however, that they are moving in the direction of notifying everyone early.

You feel special when a college recognizes that your accomplishments are so outstanding that you deserve an early acceptance. However, when you realize that everyone else is receiving these early acceptances, you don't feel quite so special.

Of course, acceptance to Williams is very impressive, and you should be very proud of yourself!!!!! However, I'm going to have to agree with Zuma that Williams is adopting a rolling regular admissions of sorts. I think this is not a healthy tactic, and causes a lot more nervousness among prospies.

i still feel special...

Yeah, I had some random guy call me during dinner. Sounded like one of my friends, so I go "Yo, wassup steve!"

"Um...this is the Director of Admissions from Williams..."

"Oh."

Yeah. But he told me I got in, so I was happy.

I've gotten the wink from UVa, and the nod from dartmouth, amherst, uroch, and now williams.

woot.

^ Lucky you. All I've heard so far is USC trustee consideration and UCLA acceptance. Ack.

So anyone know if Williams is really sending out only 5-10 acceptances per week?

um, I've heard from nowhere!

Misoobishi, I HIGHLY doubt it's just 5-10. My guess is around 50?

has anyone in CT heard anything from williams?
