My D17 got hers today, complete with a handwritten sentence congratulating her on the new skill she learned as described in her essay. No idea what the finances will look like, but for the moment, she’s just being happy to have gotten in.
From what I’ve read here in CC, it seems like they send them out to some of their top applicants and this is likely the group from which they pick Zollman and Stride scholarship recipients. Just because you get an early write doesn’t always means you’ll get a Stride, though–some do not. Again, this is just what people here have said.
[…insert fingers crossed emoji here…]
My daughter got hers yesterday, potential government major, dance minor. The handwritten note is a nice touch. She’s excited it is her #2 school – for the moment #1 LOL.
I got mine yesterday! Public policy major from PA
I’m with @dfbdfb - fingers crossed emoji inserted. Sadly, I’m not sure that Smith will be affordable for us without merit.
We are hoping for the same. Fingers crossed! It seems like the merit award letters usually arrive mid-March, before the RD decisions are released.
We got ours today as well. We live in Montana. The letter said financial aid information would come in official admissions packet to be mailed on March 24. But maybe scholarship announcements come before then?
i just got an email about admitted student program dates but haven’t received a letter (i live overseas though so maybe it’s just in transit?) is anyone’s portal updated with this early acceptance?
@telesthesia I got an email about admitted student program dates as well, that talks about how I’m “excited about my admission to Smith” in the first sentence. Does that mean I’ve been admitted? Or is it just an email they send out to everyone?
My D got the email and reading it I think it should only go to admitted students. So either you are admitted or they made a big mistake and sent it to all applicants or something. I’d call and find out.
edit: The portal looks the same so no indication of Admittance there.
My daughter got the e-mail as well. Does anyone know if this is the only admitted student event? She tried to log in and check the admitted student website but it says more information will be posted on March 24 (when the rest of the RD decisions go out). She has plans to be at another college’s admitted student event on the same date but will likely change her plans to spend go to Smith if that is the only option.
@pinkspider17 My daughter also got the email, but she did receive a paper letter in the mail Friday welcoming her to Smitih. If you got the email but didn’t get a letter about admission yet, I’d recommend calling or emailing admissions just to clarify. Hopefully you got in, and your letter is lost in the mail!
My daughter was admitted ED1 and she didn’t get an email about the admitted student events…
@smcirish Thank you! (: I was just looking through some old mail and found the letter of admission! There was a note about my essay and hoping to see me on the courts (I visited with some intent to play volleyball). I was just about to call before I found the letter. I guess my parents sorted it with all the other college info letters…
I also got the email! I did not get the handwritten note though…
Just got the mail. I did get the note!
Congrats to the new Smithies!
@GraniteStateMom last year there was only one on-campus admitted student day.
My D received her acceptance last week (Memphis suburbs). She is very excited–biology/genetics with a dash of drama.
