wat the.. since ima be a freshman, imma suppose to take Econ 1 or Econ 2 for business econ major. My highschool had econ for only a semester and i did it first semester so i plan to take Econ 1. however i cant find any teacher who teachers Econ 1 or even Econ 2 on bruinwalk. can sum1 help me:( ooo but i found all those other econs!

you'll have to take econ1 and econ2 before you can take those upper division econ classes. a lot of the upper division econ classes have pre-requisites before you can enroll.

i think the econ2 teacher is on bruinwalk. anyway, econ1 and econ2 aren't meant to be fun; they're weeder classes, meaning they try to get some people to not be competitive when they apply for the bizecon major. you're probably not going to find any good teachers for econ1 or econ2.

i wasn't aware that econ1/2 were weeder classes. they're required for some other majors unrelated to econ i believe.

i was in econ2 with hou and i found it pretty interesting, but he's mostly a love him or hate him teacher, so i don't know whether to recommend him to people. he has an econ phd from yale and imo has the potential to be a good professor. one of the main gripes concerning him is that he actually teaches at csulb and just teaches part-time here, and so trying to get in contact with him is hell. not like he's very personable anyway, i've gone to his office hours and have seen him yell at kids for not understanding things.

econ11 i heard was a weeder though. i believe skreta is teaching it this fall in a large lecture class. in case you are in that class, may god have mercy upon your soul. i took econ 11 with her this past quarter (her first quarter teaching it) and it was the most atrocious experience ever. she has no idea how to teach whatsoever. it wasn't that the grading or tests were especially tough, it's that she can't teach worth jack. even though i came out of that class fine grade-wise i'm afraid i'll be underprepared for econ 101. anyway, our class was 100 ppl, and apparently her class in the fall will be like triple the size, i have no idea how the hell she will handle it. she could barely handle a class our size.

Econ 1 and Econ 2 are kind of fun. Econ 11 is a genuine weeder class, though, because that's when all the pre-Biz Econ people start rushing each other down. I have heard bad things about Prof. Skreta from my roommate who took it last quarter - good luck with her. I'm also taking Econ 101 this fall. which is supposed to be another weeder class.
