Since these are the most important prereqs, does anyone know who the best profs are for these courses?

Also, what's the best sequence to take them?

You have to take 11 before 101. You can take 41 whenever (as long as you do it before you declare whatever econ major you pick). McDevitt is good, but challenging, for 11. I have Buddin for 101 right now and he's incredibly boring but a lot easier than McDevitt. Pretty much all of the 41 professors are bad. I had a visiting prof. who was just horrible.

Even though Hellwig doesn't lecture well, is he easier than McDevitt?

i think in general i heard hellwig is easier than mcdevitt.

11: Hellwig is good; you can print out lecture notes before class which gives him an edge over McDevitt. Not hard, but not easy. Got B+. Recommended. McDevitt is good too; had him for 102.

41: All bad, got Guggenberger; you can do well, just go to TA section for homework help, and then remember how to do homework probs cuz they'll be on the test. Book (Intro Stats by Mann 6th ed or something like that) is helpful too. Got B+, was my first ever stats class. He can't teach, but is kinda nice and not too hard if you know how to solve HW probs (get TA help).

101: Buddin. He has a LOT of practice problems, but if you somehow find the time and energy to do all of them and KNOW how to do all of them, you're golden for the test. I messed up with time management and so didn't know things as well as I should've; got a B. Boring lecturer, reads from the slides you can print before class. But if you can do the problems, you can do the exams. Recommended.

I think McDevitt is the best prof by far. Sure, he is more challenging, but the class is on a curve anyway, so I didn't mind it. Ended up with an A+ actually even though I didn't feel that did too well in the final.

I loved the way his lectures were structured, so well thought out and clear. Not a bit confusing in my opinion and you can just tell he knows what he is talking about inside out.

Has anyone taken Hood for 41?

And is McDevitt good for 101?

I'd definitely take McDevitt for econ 101. Just watch out for his infamous MC questions.
