Econ 41

I have a question for those of you who've taken Econ 41. Do you think it's plausible for me to get an A or A-, considering I've never taken a single stats course in my entire life? Should I take something like Stats10 as a prep course for Econ 41, or can I go into Econ 41 without any stats background and come out with an A/A-?

I'm taking econ 41 right now. It's pretty fast paced, probably even more so for someone who's never taken statistics before. But so far, it's not really difficult. There's tons of exercises in the book and you can get a solutions guide, so you can practice a lot.

stats is one of those courses (including math, physics, chem, etc) for which there are problem-solver type books. These books are around $20 or so and may be among the best money you spend all quarter!

The books have chapters divided into the common topics you'll see in the courses. You go to the chapter for what you're studying (after reading your textbook, of course) and try to solve the problems. The books are built around completely worked-out examples, thousands of them. So cover the answer and see if you can solve it yourself. If so, great! If not, read the explanation and try the next one until you get the hang of it.

yeah i know solutions manuals are great and all, but from my experience they dont help if you're not ready for that level of math/science you're taking.

like i took math31a and had a solutions manual, but struggled to get a C, probably because I should've taken Precalc here (even though I took it in HS).

So basically I'm wondering if I should take stats 10 as a "pre" course to econ 41, even though econ 41 doesnt have an enforced requisites? the reason I'm even thinking this is cuz I never took a single stats class in my life, and I really need an A in my remaining pre-majors (one of which is econ 41)

As I said, so far, we haven't done anything too hard. Nothing that would require statistics background knowledge.
Especially if you do lots of problems, you should be fine.
