So is the class alright if you take it without any Economics classes before? And does anyone have any intel on Rojas? I checked BruinWalk, but there was only three reviews.

I was an econ major and took the course…it’s statistics…you don’t need any econ background. Now if you have already taken stats…much easier.

Thanks! Who did you have, btw? Seeing now, there’s only Rojas. And I’m kinda unsure if I should take the class, because I’m an upcoming Freshman.

They seem to switch the professor quite often for the class. I had prof bognar. She was eastern european, had an accent, and not the best teacher. However, she was very enthusiastic and helpful. No idea about rojas though…

Unless bruinwalk rates the teacher horribly…I’d just take the class. There really isn’t a prof that teaches it year after year.

If you are good at math (econ 41 is purely a stats class)…I’d see no reason why to take it. However, if you aren’t the best at math and unsure how you’ll adapt, I might take another class. the first quarter is the toughest…not because of the classes but because there are so many things going on, you’re finding your place, and you haven’t figured out your ideal studying habits yet.

PS I apologize I prob have some run ons and poor grammar throughout my posts. It’s late, but more importantly, I’m just too lazy to care right now. lol

Thanks for the advice. I’m planning on taking it then.

I took Rojas last year for Econ 41. Very nice guy and straight forward with the material. He isn’t going to try and trick you like every other econ professor at this institution. If you keep up with the material and do every homework problem several times and the unassigned ones you will be fine.

Here comes the catch, because he is so straight with the material, students do extremely well so if you fall behind on one midterm its hard to catch up on your grade. The curve for my first midterm looked like ____/\ Median/Mean was in the high 80’s, low 90’s or something. I had never seen a curve like this at UCLA. You just have to consistently stay above the curve, but its really not TOO bad.

Thank you so much! You should consider posting that as a review on bruinwalk.com
